Just purchased a 2002 745i with 48390 miles. Wondering if anyone could give me a list of common problems to be on the lookout for and of an extended warranty company with a reliable reputation. I purchased the car for $30700. Car has all options and looks wonderful. She will be delivered this weekend. I will take pictures as soon as possible. She is dark metallic gray with gray interior. I hope to be a long owner if all goes well.

congrats on the purchase - you should still have the NEW car warranty till next year or so, depending on the in-service date. have your local dealer run your vin to make sure. dont know much about extended warranties that are offered outside of BMW - sorry.

most of problems with the E6x's are electrical.

Welcome. Problem wise, all electrical. I would hope, that with 48k+ miles on it, they have all been worked out by now. You will have a few more as time goes on. Make sure whatever warranty you get, covers ALL electrical problems.

I own an 02 745Li and it has a factory 100K 6 year warranty. I've had it now 6 months. I spent some time getting my software updated since prior owners did not. Now the only issues I am dealing with are inop windshield washer valves on the wiper itself and a CD player that won't give up the disc csrtridge. The car has almost 82K miles though. I really enjoy the drive though. It's my mobile castle. Enjoy your ride.Will

definitely get your software updated...other than that, while it's under warranty have the dealer replace all the door sillls..they are covered under warranty.

What does the software upgrade involve and what difference does it make! Sorry don't realy know much about the elctronics on this car, had it for 5 months now but hardly driven due to travelling!

While it may have a 6yr/100k new vehicle warranty, the maintenance warranty is only 4yr/50k. You might want to extend it.

You can't go in just to get the car's software updated. You have to have a problem that requires programming.

Come on guys, u have to share a little more info. I need everyones help so I can head the problems off before they happen.
