View Full Version : Looking to do an M car meet/greet in Boise
chebimmer 06-22-2007, 07:02 PM Although not as multitudinous as Portland or Seattle, there are quite a few nice M cars in Boise and I would like to get people together to talk cars. I was thinking about making little flyers and putting them on windsheilds, since it doesn't seem like too many people visit this board, (I know of two others). Has anyone held a meet the old fashioned way, hitting the streets with little flyers? If so, what kind of response did you get?
There is little BMW CCA presence here, which is sad because there are many bimmerheads around and many nice cars. Any advice/response/well-wishing from the area or otherwise is welcome.
Thanks,
Eric

?
side bar- I grew up in Boise and Weiser. Nice place. Too far for me, even after we move to Vancouver, WA.
jayhudson 06-23-2007, 01:35 PM What's your local chapter of BMWCCA? Maybe you can advertise in their publication. Do they do e-mails to members?
Sac Valley chapter sends out e-mails with info on drives, meetings, social gatherings, etc. I probably get 5-10 e-mails per month. Very informative.

chebimmer 06-23-2007, 02:06 PM My chapter is Inland Empire. Most of the events are in Washington but that's not a bad idea, maybe I could get a bit of interest. I am thinking making little flyers might be my best bet. Being the bimmer dork that I am I know where many of the nice ones park. Anyway Thanks Jay, your advice is always spot on.
Gymratt, thanks for the interest, glad you liked the area, Vancouver is closer than Indiana, but I wouldn't expect you to make the trip:).
Roids66 06-26-2007, 05:27 PM The inland Empire BMWCCA offers little support for people in Boise. Seems like they have good organization, but it is all centered around Spokane. I rarely see any other M's around. I would love to see a bunch of M's all in one place, talk BMWs and drive Bogus Basin Road or the Banks-Lowman loop. Let me know what you get figured out.
chebimmer 06-26-2007, 09:48 PM Roids66, good to hear from another Boisean. Ditto on the Inland Empire deal, everything is based up there=no good.
Great to hear you are interested. Bogus Basin Road sounds like a great idea, I love that road. I think I saw your car about a year ago--she's a beaut. I was thinking in July on a Sunday (the 15th) would be a good time, at 11am before it gets too hot, maybe we could all meet at Highlands Elementary or thereabouts, then head up the road. I think I will start making flyers to put on windsheilds. Spread the word if you can. I will keep you posted.
Thanks,
Eric
chebimmer 07-08-2007, 11:32 PM So if anyone's interested, the date is Sunday the 15th at 11am at Highlands Elementary on Bogus Basin Road. Thx
993 911 07-09-2007, 12:25 AM Make a special event that will draw "regular" owners to come out and possibly get them hooked on the scene. BBQ/Show/Auto-X, something more than a come talk cars in a parking lot deal. Get a local BMW shop involved, that should produce some numbers.

Agreed. As SOON as my car gets in I'll be road tripping to Boise to see my best friend. I'd be happy to help set something up.
chebimmer 07-09-2007, 03:01 PM Thanks for the tips. I figured I would get something more involved next time(auto-x, bbq, etc.) if I get some interest this time. Start small, I was thinking.
Ty, that would be great if you showed up sometime:).
Thanks for the interest.
m5james 08-23-2007, 03:22 PM Old thread, but anyone still around Boise....I need some BMW friends around here. I can twist a wrench, so come say hey!
chebimmer 08-23-2007, 04:03 PM Hey james,
I am planning on having another meet around here next month. Shoot me a PM with your email or number and we can talk bimmers.
m5james 08-23-2007, 04:16 PM All my IM's are on my posts, so anyone can feel free to contact me that way, which USUALLY get sent to my phone. My cell is 206-679-7149, and my email is m5james@yahoo.com. I participated a lot in the local Seattle 5's and 7's drives, along with random DTMPOWER.net meets. I'd love to see some get togethers here, talk cars, see 20 bimmers rolling through some twisties together, yada yada. I don't have an M now, but I owned an E34 M5, so that counts for something ehh ;)
