Doctor Wha 06-22-2007, 04:12 PM um how do they get it back to Florida now? On that huge dolley at 2mph? They piggyback it on a custom-rigged 747: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shuttle_Carrier_Aircraft G2 Speed 06-22-2007, 04:12 PM iunno if your bsing that, but if so that's AMAZING saab guy 06-22-2007, 04:13 PM $1.7 Mil to get that shuttle to FL. NASA FTL 325irollin 06-22-2007, 04:14 PM maybe you felt that train that derailed in KY Chifo Jr 06-22-2007, 04:16 PM I have a friend who works for nasa. Before they used the 747 piggyback, they used to send it by boat. It would take one boat for the shuttle and two boats for the support equipment. If you think 1.7 Mil is alot you should hear of some of the waste at the facilty where they maintain it. G2 Speed 06-22-2007, 04:17 PM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nLwTIWUPVgs I don't care how much training you can have, I would still be scared shitless that much fuel and power underneath me! Chifo Jr 06-22-2007, 04:19 PM I will be really surprised it that sound wave didnt do some damage somewhere local here. ken_vs_ryu 06-22-2007, 04:19 PM What did you have for lunch? It wants to go swimming. m3maker 06-22-2007, 04:21 PM I live in North Hollywood around what time did this happen? sachin528 06-22-2007, 04:40 PM iunno if your bsing that, but if so that's AMAZING Nope True Story. $1.7 Mil to get that shuttle to FL. NASA FTL :confused:rolleyes:rolleyes NASA is probably one of the greatest government agencies. Hardly anyone gives them enough credit. Everytime there is a FUBAR or costs are presented, people roll their eyes at NASA, and question the reason for space exploration. Just like the technology from F1 filters down to Ferraris or the Tech in 7s come down to the 3s, the technology pioneered in the space program trickles down to earth and helps all of mankind. Space exploration is tough and costs money but it is the ultimate educational experience. More money should be spent on NASA. NASA FTMFW! Mojo325is 06-22-2007, 04:40 PM we had a huge sonic boom here earlier in the week, some f-16 pilot fucking around. footballcrzy888 06-22-2007, 04:46 PM It was the Shuttle on re-entery. They landed at Edwards. /thread McoupeBobby 06-22-2007, 05:11 PM it definately shook my whole house. RagnarDanskjold 06-22-2007, 05:55 PM $1.7 Mil to get that shuttle to FL. NASA FTL Srsly hope you're kidding... How much is being spent on ordinance, logistics and fuel by the military abroad daily? At least this comes back in re-usable pieces. If NASA had even a percentage of the defense budget, we'd all be planning vacations to orbit and the moon by now. Goat128 06-22-2007, 06:01 PM They usually land it in Fl just had bad weather this time. Maybe they could use intercity lines and save a few bucks? psk145 06-22-2007, 06:14 PM I heard it too, and I yelled at the wife "what hte fuck did you do????" shook the whole damn house then I also heard heli's and I thought Pendleton was doing exercises or something. 9mcoupe9 06-22-2007, 06:57 PM lol so thats what that was, felt like someone slamed all 15 doors in my house at once........either that or someone had a HUGE FART! lolololololol, wow thats crazy.
