View Full Version : budget 10" sub choice?

i've already got a .75 cu ft sealed box ready for a speaker. i'll be running about 150 or so watts to the sub from 2 bridged channels of a ED NINe.4.

looking to stay in the $75 to $125 range. right now i've been considering the ED 11kv.2 and the Diamond Audio d310d2.

any input on these 2 speakers, or recommendations of other speakers in that range that will give nice output based on the sealed box and amp listed above?

thanks in advance...

I'd gladly take either the eD or DA over any kicker subwoofer imo

ya thats kinda what i was thinking... i've found the DA at a price very much to my liking, just curious how good the sound is compared to the eD (sq and output)

Visonik V105PR? $34.99 for 2 10s at pep boys. Granted they aren't particularly good but they are dirt cheap and at 150 watts that'd run one of them.

I have 2 I bought to mess with and the box spec for 2 of them is 1 1/2 cubic feet, so your box is right too.

I've had teh 12 in of the KV line. All I can say is wow, I built a sick box for it and it hit harder than my previous solo baric setup.

With $75 and 150 watts the options aren't exacty endless.

SQ is a different story. eD blows Kicker out of the water. Been there, got the T-shirt.

Everybody has an opinion. But you'd be hard pressed to find a bad review on JL subs. They are top notch. Very warm and full sound.

Because good outside bass is the mark of a fantastic system... :shifty

I can't believe someone can say that and be 100% serious. Anyways, my vote goes for the 11kv.2, it'll match the amp :)

Good outside bass is the mark of an overblown system. Bass should not overwhelm a system. Rather it should fill the bottom and warm up the overall sound. Kicker stuff is crap.

For what it's worth, many authorized Kicker dealers have a 2 for the price of 1 sale on Kicker CompVR woofers. Buy 2 10s for $129.95 and sell one to a friend. CVRs are great woofers.

An Image Dynamics ID10 would be perfect in that box and is in that price range.

ya, i'm down to either the eD 11kv2 or the ID ID10V2...

with decent sq in mind, which will have higher output (if anyone's experienced both)?

Khiladi1020

I've experienced the IDQ series... if decent SQ is what you want, I'd go with the IDQ10V2 vs. ID10. Still pretty cheap IMO.

That's an excellent suggestion, but he needs more power.

I was running 350w to the IDQ10 in the Tahoe - just be careful with the gains.

ya 'they' say the eD amps are a bit under rated so i'm thinking i'll get more than 150w out of the bridged channels. i believe that should be enough to run either the 11kv2 or id10v2 decently (i know more would be better, but thats not avail at the moment)...

I'd like to see those rave reviews please. Seriously.

They actually don't 'look' bad (in the partsexpress catalog). LOL Looks are usually deceiving in this business though (think Audiobahn, Visonik, etc.)

then again solo-x's are around 1k each no?.... 4 of them would run 4k plus the amps to run them.... 2k watts each....cheapest you can get a 2k watt amp is like 300 bucks on ebay for a no-name or around 500 for a decent brand. i doubt he has that in a jeep. Thats 6k on a sound system...

i beg you to prove me wrong and show pics. :)

red, i just sold a audiobahn box i'd gotten with the car not too long ago, so i'll pass. but thanks for offering.

the sealed box i have is a bit bigger than what eD recommends for the 11kv2. i know i can add some material inside to reduce the volume, but i'm curious what effect on sound running a larger sealed box will have...

RE makes great subs. Every forum has brands they like best, this one is no different. RE is not big here.

I agree with all the negative Kicker comments, loud as hell, but not tight, accurate or good "sounding" but everyone has different taste. I remember the old solo baric sub, the black one, from around 1999 or 2000, that was a good sounding sub, the squares ones are just ear molesters.

I've heard nothing but good things about RE subs, especially their SE and XXX line, on other forums. They are often regularly chosen over such higher priced brands as JL, and almost always impress people.

Didn't RE's prices turn ridiculous after US Amps bought them?

What about the RE line? Im thinking more from a budget point of view. I know that their RE, SE, and XXX lines are for SQ, so is the RE good for the money?
