Hi guys,
What is the smallest size wheel that will fit over the brakes of an E34 M5.
I'm thinking I might need a set of winter wheels... if I actually pull the trigger and buy an M5.
Cheers!

16! The E28 M5 wheels fit great for winter snows and is a common size for cheap winter shoes.
17 is the minimum for the 3.8's with the Nring brakes.

That's what I was affraid of... I've got 2 sets of new studded 15" Kumho's for my E36. Guess I'll have to trade them for some 16's.

I used 15's one winter... the car wouldn't move but I didn't want my good tires sitting for 7 months. I jacked it up, put on the 15's and set it down. no e-brake needed!!!
Seriously, I think 15's are VERY close as they will fit on the car but you can't move it. Maybe buy a used caliper and experiment with liberating a small amount of material where it contacts the wheel?

I think I'll just bit the bulit and get some 16's
those 15's wouldn't fit anyways, they are the incorrect offset.
I run 16's in the winter. they look poo-poo, but winter tires are cheap in 16

I was just talking about the tires... I am aware that the E36 wheels are different off-set

You're prepared to shell out the...what, 10k+? for an M5, but not 500 bucks for 16" wheels?
