My 95 M3 is in need of a set of tires. My car is a daily driver except when the weather is nasty (I have a 4x4 pickup for that). I do not track the car, but tend to drive a little aggressive on the 2 lane back roads here. I'm looking for a tire that has a smooth quiet ride with good treadwear and decent handling dry and wet. Tirerack customer reviews of the Sumitomo HTR+ tire seem pretty good, especially considering the price. Anyone here have any +/- comments regarding this tire on an M3 daily driver?

I was initially intending to get a set of Michelins, but the $200 price tag and not so great reviews kinda changed my mind. The Sumitomos are about 1/2 that price.

Did you check out the Kumhos? They seem to be the "budget" choice. The high end choice is the S03. Better than the Pilots, and slightly lower cost.

I'd say take a look at the new Khumo MX, seems to be a great general-use tire for a good price. the S-03 is "better" but a lot more money.

the summitomos will NOT meet your needs.

The HTR+ will meet some of the requirements but not all of them. They are a quiet and smooth riding tire with excellent wet traction and longer wear. They may not give you the handling in the twisty back road drive you are looking for. I would say they are about ass good as any other all season tire but compared to the Ecsta MX or the Yoko ES100 they won't stack up.
If I can help let me know.
