Recently purchased 1989 535- cluster is dead ...other than tach. no spedo/temp/fuel/odometer...etc. tried swapping clusters still nothing, any tips or tricks? The original cluster had a grey back to it, I got a cluster in my collection that had a blue back (and a coding plug) it works great-except the odometer and key in ignition lights stay on with key out and doors closed. again.... HELP !!???

are you 100% the cluster you put in was good?

the cluster i put in was good- the cluster i took out was bad. they are however two different clusters - one blue with coding plug -original grey one has no working guages or a coding plug(that is visible)

I am pretty sure that the original one you took out does not have a coding plug in the cluster, it is in fact located in the plug.
