So my car has been acting like its in the work situtation and about to blow up so I tried some solutions and found that the TPS was definatly bad cause when I uplugged it, the car is runnning beautifully again. Would it be a bad idea to leave it unplugged and continue driving with it? my understanding is that the non-asc cars dont have/need this sensor considering the throttle body is replaced by a boot...

The throttle position sensor is there for a reason. If, as stated, it appears to be be faulty replace it.

+1, Apparently, when you unplugged it, the ECU recognized that it wasn't working and switched to an algorithum that doesn't use that input. But it is a degraded condition.

your throttle response will be slower, but you will not harm anything by leaving it unplugged

yea, the ecu is just guessing with the sensor unpluged, unsted of getting the wrong information and basicly bieng lied to by the faulty tps.

so isn't my throttle valve (acs) acting just like the boot would? just an open airway... and isn't the boot supposed to improve performance (to a very small degree that is)?

the asc throttle plate is fully open all the time untill the tires start spinning, then it closes to reduce power even though you foot is on the floor.

there is a tps for the main throttle body and the asc throttle body, witch one are you talking about unpluging?

good point, i should have clarified, this is the sensor on the secondary throttle body (ACS body) that I have disconnected.

does your asc light stay on? i am having some idle problems and would like to know this answer as well.

yup. and every once in a while it will throw the same code with a general air flow problem. I just disconnected the sensor and the car is SOOO much smoother on the whole powerline, no roughness or jerking of the throttle. I'm just gonna order the intake boot for non-asc cars and get rid of the extra throttle body.

I have a asc sensor if you want. but you will notice a little bit sharper throttle responce with out the asc.
