I did this X5 for a client of mine with a nice collection of cars...this one being his daily driver.

The car had minor swirling though nothing terrible as it was last detailed about a year ago.

Process was as follows:

1) Wash with Mothers Gold Class
2) Wheels treated with PB Spray and Rinse
3) Clayed with ClayMagic Blue where needed
4) Tires dressed with Stoner's Tire Shine
5) Wheels waxed with Duragloss AquaWax
6) Paint polished via Optimum Polish on a white pad via PC
7) Waxed with Optimum Car Wax
8) Window Trim polished via Makita Rotary/Cut Pad/ HTEC Extreme Cut @ 1500rpms
9) Interior Vacuumed and Cleaned with Sonus CockPit detailer

I love this car, though HATE the window trims. For some reason the trim gets the very worst water spots (BMW acknowledged this and provides Megs #9 through the dealer to combat this problem). However, if this isnt done often, these spots intensify and are a real bear to remove. The rotary and EC made quick work of them, however.

Pictures Below. Sorry I didnt get any befores but he was waiting when I arrived and I got right to work:

Thanks Phil!

Yeah, the new ones DEFINITELY havent grown on me yet. This one is the epitome of a sweet SUV (SAV ;)) in my opinion.

Those seats are SUPER grippy too as the inserts are the alcantara boxed material.

Very nice work there! Is that X5 estoril blue? Also is Sonus Cockpit detailer just a protectant or also a cleaner? Autopia sent me a free bottle awhile ago and I just haven't used it yet.

Thanks for the compliment.

Yes, its Estoril: The X5 4.6is (essentially the "M" version of an X5) came in both Imola and Estoril which are m-exclusive colors. (it came in other colors, as well)

Its both a cleaner and protectant. If you already have it, go ahead and use it, but I wouldnt recommend someone buy this who doesnt already have it. I prefer my CG and Meg's Interior products over the Cockpit detailer.

On the other hand, NOTHING beats Sonus Leather Conditioner, IMO. (I feel that the entire Sonus line leaves much to be desired, but for the conditioner which is FANTASTIC)

In Europe it came in Dakar

Is that blue interior trim original? Doubt it but it looks nice!

Yep, Ive been doing it part-time while in school and now that Ive graduated, Im going to get more into it in the evenings after work. Here are some of the recent cars I have done (since I got my Nikon): http://gallery.rennlist.com/gallery/album558

I think I have between 5-10 cars lined up for the rest of the month (started booking yesterday): 2 of which are Lambos. :D

Dakar would be a sight to see....I dont think I could handle owning one in Dakar though. The blue trim wasnt original and was replaced by the owner shortly after he got the truck (its also go H&R springs, Dinan Tranny Software, Powerchip Engine software, Eisenmann exhaust).

Is this the shadowline stuff or whatever that is chrome on some X5's? or the stuff on the B-Pillar?

Its on the B-Pillar and surrounding some of the windows (though not all..) If I owned the truck I would likely just have it painted a shade of black and not have to worry about getting these nasty water spots.

GREAT JOB on the X!

I finished up an 02 X5 yesterday and use Meguiar's #26 on the window/door trim. That paint will really show water spots and the Meg's does a great job. I use it on all the Bimmers at the shop. For the trim, wipe it on and don't wait for a drying time...just buff it off.

Here's the red X5 I just finished
