Brand new, black suede, never touched. Steering wheel was installed on a CPO then uninstalled after the original steering wheel was to be put back on. Sorry for the rather crappy pics, it was done with my camara phone.

Would this fit on my '99 M Coupe with stage one airbag?

probably not

What year car was it originally on? Stage 2 air bags came in sometime around '99 so your probably right that it won't fit. The BMW tech probably knows better than me that the connector and some of the electronics are different between stage one and two.
