Hey guys,

I just got royally butt raped by the dealership today. Thought I would share the news with you guys. I know, I know...I should have seen it coming. :rolleyes:

Anyways, I had to get the oil changed and brakes needed to be changed also. I don't know anyone around here (except the dealership) that works on BMW's. So, they tell me I've got more problems. I decided not to shell out more money and instead ask for everyone's advice here first.

So this is what they told me that I need replaced/fixed:
1) front rotors..........$400
2) rear rotors...........$488.72
3) passenger brake light broken (needs new light assembly)...........$300
4) coolant leak from radiator(?)...........$462.26

Yeah, I'm about to faint just adding up the total. I know there must be ways to cut the costs. I was just wondering if you guys (Ryan-help me out here buddy) know of places to get the parts and where/who to go to to get them installed for a reasonable cost by someone you guys trust (I don't want some random guy just slappin those rotors on).

Let me know of any ideas or what you would do if you were me. Thanks guys...;)

Ill also check with some of the guys from our little bimmer 'click'. Barret used to work in a shop over in Lawrence, I havent heard of anything Lawrence but since I just go to school there I'm not too familiar with that town (our bars are better :) ).

I can get the parts at cost form Baron throught my dealer account! This may help out? Also, I would get another quote! I let my brother take my car to Baron last week to get the Coolent flushed and they hosed his ass! And the bad part is he had my credit card:complain Anyways to make it short he ended up having the AC belt replaced and the waterpump also at a total of almost 700$:complain So the reason why I say get another quote is because I had put new belts on a month ago and the water pump is only 6 months old:95 So, you could take it to Sunflower BMW as bad as they are and see if they say anything? That is a very nice car to take to anyone here in Lawrence if you know what I mean!:dunno Anyway, let me know if I can help! P.S. Iding...I had a really bad experience with Sunflower (I'm never EVER going back to that dump). Knowing them they'll tell me my whole engine is going to fall out if I drive another mile without them fixing it. Bastards!

Hmm...black 7 on KU campus with the aftermarket exhaust would be me (or my bf if he's dropping me off to class). ;)

Wow, I use to go to Baker - which is about 20 minutes away from KU. We use to go to KU for all of the parties, though. I am a Kappa Sig if that makes any difference :)

Sorry, I knew that everyone that has gone there has had an issue(Sunflower!) They really do suck!:clap: I had to get my stereo code once when I just got out here from the east coast and knew no better and they charged me 40$ for it:95 Well, Anyways I use to be a part owner of Nu-Image and decided to walk out right before X-mas and soon after things went down hill and they moved! I let my brother drive my car all the time and we are twins so I think many people in Lawrence get us confused:D I walk around Campus and people will just walk up and start talking to me like I have known them for years! Pretty funny when I ask them who they are and they look at me like I am :conf:! or special! My brother is stupid and doesn't really tell people that he has a twin!:D Well, I thought it was funny. There is a really good independent mechanic in Merriam, near Aristocrat Porsche here in KC. European Motorworks (913) 236-8008, they will be better/cheaper than the dealer. PM me the specs on your car and I can probably find you a taillight and maybe brake rotors for allot cheaper. Call Gary or Wayne at European and get a quote from them for those parts and see how they compare.

As far as Assflower Motors goes...I bought my first BMW this summer and had to get the oil changed and was being anal about it and insisted on taking it to the dealership. So I did. Then there was a rattling noise coming from under the car near the engine when I accelerate (only past 50mph) and I told them to look at that and see what's up with it. They told me it is either my aftermarket exhaust or the engine bearing. I did some research and found out it either exhaust or crank shaft (whatever that is!). I told Assflower Motors and they said, no way...my sources are wrong-they have confirmed it is the main engine bearing. They told me to ignore the rattling even though it may get worse. I wanted to fix it and they said it would cost me around $4,000...yep, you read it right...three zeros baby! I freaked out, was going to sell the car and buy a different car! Then took it to another place (Bob's Import) to get a different opinion and they came highly recommended...and Bob's screwed me over too and said he'd fix it for $3,000. Jerk. Then, I went to another place and he said screw all of them...it is not the main bearing for sure. It wasn't. He fixed something to do with the exhaust system and no more rattling. It only cost me $200 bucks. I've never been so willing and so happy to write a $200 dollar check in my life! Since then, I've made sure to tell people how pathetic Sunflower Motors is and to warn them to never go there and deal with them.

What the heck went wrong with Nu Image??? Everything that has been there never stayed there very long. It's kind of in a hard to get in and out location. I hate going down 23rd and trying to get to places like Nutbuster. Then again, I live wayyyyy west of town so I'm outta the major congested streets. I saw a sign that said the place moved down to Louisiana (I have yet to see it). Anyhow, my online buddy Chris and I have talked online for years...I've never even met him! He recently bought a cute little black BMW right about the time I did. So we talk quite a bit about our cars and stuff we want to buy for it. He told me he comes up to Lawrence to Nu Image because he knows the guy who drives the purple car. When I was having problems with my car (I was crying about it almost everyday!) Chris would be right there to listen to me whine and he told me to go to Nu Image and talk to Barret and maybe he could help me-but I got it fixed before I could go over. Then, when I was gonna check the place out, you guys MOVED! Anyhow, what a small world...Nice meeting ya though-finally.
