Not to digress too much, but with the E92 M3 coming out shortly, do you think that the E46 M3 will soon become the standard for BMW-based club racecars? The prices are a little stagnant (high) right now because of the lack of new inventory, but they will drop when new car buyers have the E92 available.

With the E46 M3 having more power out of the box, adding lightness is the big factor to a power-to-weight series like NASA GTS. I know I've much rather have a relatively stock car as opposed to a car that has had every last bit of power squeezed out of it (like a modded S14 or S50). Thoughts?

Its one of the last GTR chassis' left. I only know of one private one for sale in the US, if anyone is interested :) Awesome deal, S54 powered, easy to run in club racing, same cost as a top CM car, but its arrive and drive.

It is an early variation though, its got the early GTR cage, not many did. It was changed fairly quickly I think to a superior design that was on the most recent GTR chassis. Main differences were in the rear, and how the suspension/drivetrain were tied into the cage.

RJ valentine has one of the other gtr chassis, but I think its on permanent display, I don't think he's had it out for a while.

And yes...it definitely would need a TC Design/ Jaffster knob, most likely a custom one though ;) If you look close, or have seen hewland shift knobs in person, they have some similarities to the Tc/Jaffster knob...notice the round top and lower "shelf."

No idea. I think at one point he was thinking of racing the S4 in Rolex Cup/Koni but went another route.

It looks to come with a lot of spares though. The rear trailing arms would be REALLY hard to replace, but the pictures seem to show a few spares for those.

Super Mod- all ex Pro cars go there. Yes there are a few out there, but they aren't plentiful. I know Gil Caravantes ran one a few years ago but was bored b/c he had nobody to race...so he bought a JP E30 M3.

The rules were changed with regards to that a few years ago. It now makes no difference whether a car has been raced in a Pro series with regards to classing.

I just looked through the CR archives...2001 was the last set of rules that required all Pro cars to run in SM.

And Motorsport chassis are now fully legal in Mod class, so no problem there either.

Has there ever been a SM win overall nationally? With all these pro cars now hitting the Clubracing circuits (WCGT, Rolex, ALMS, European, etc) its interesting that there are not more Sm cars dominating.

Probably not even worth putting it on ebay, just think of a cash up front price, and advertise in the community, much better off.

I bid a couple times...I was hoping it would go cheap! :) Oh well I guess it was a pipe dream at the price I was willing to pay. I hope it stays here in the states and someone keeps it around in club racing.

I am guessing the bids are somewhat bogus. I have seen PTG cars in Autoweek over the past few years at rougly similar prices that sit there for months and months. This car was in there for awhile as well IIRC. I am guessing that somebody might have been testing the reserve- still not met at $150k.

He has 7 feedbacks?? He bought a Suzuki carb. and a cell phone recently. I wouldn't consider that great feedback for $200+k transaction.. Guess we'll wait and see.

Sounds fake, I bet it goes back up or to private sale by next week. Market is so small for such items, I don't know why the sellers don't just go to the concentrated sources for selling these types of things.

My assumptions were right, the deal was not real, its back up for sale!
