View Full Version : Need new harness, FIA certified preferred
Time to replace my 2+ year old SFI certified Sparco harness.
I'm looking into the Sparco and Schroth HANS compatible harness, but I also like the Teamtech with the sternum pad.
What are you guys using and recommend? I want an FIA harness so I don't replace it for another five years.
I've used/own a SABelt and G-force and sat in/buckled up in a Schroth profi 2. The schroth was the best for me, I wish I had gone with it instead.

We recommend Schroth although the new Sparco setups are built by Schroth. Let me know if we can help you out.
DaveCN 06-12-2007, 02:18 PM I'll probably get the Schroth HANS one one.
Other than Schroth/Sparco, are there other HANS "compatible" ones out there?
///M3Matt 06-12-2007, 02:30 PM Schroth all the way :)
I am currently using the HANS version but their regular version is excellent as well

yup, just bought a schroth profi II from them. I went with the non-hans version, because i don't wear the hans device everytime i'm in the car. Just something to consider.

Why??? Street driven as wel?
scottbm3 06-12-2007, 03:35 PM I run The Schroth Profi-II. with the cam lock. I Like the 2" lap belts, but prefer the 3" shoulder belts even with my Hans, which I always wear whenever I take my car on track. :)
We run the Team Tech 3"-2"-3" Hans friendly belts. Really like them. It's stupid they are not certified for 5 years, but of course, this issue has been discussed ad nauseum.

no, never street driven. I just don't wear it if i'm instructing or de'ing the car. Personal choice.
osborni 06-12-2007, 04:53 PM The sternum buckle is horrid idea. Possibility of major soft tissue damage to your neck.
I have the Schroth hybrid 2 on the left and the Profi 2 on the right. I don't think the hybrid is that much more comfortable then the profi to justify the extra hassle of the crotch straps. Next time, I'll just do Profi's on both sides.
I like the Schroth Hybrid III HANS model, the sub strap has alwasy been a problem for me. The TeamTech pelvic pad is a good option, but it seems not very popular, why?
The Simpson platinum is a good option as well, but is not HANS friendly and not FIA certified.
So, Sparco, Schroth made, or pure breed Schroth Hybrid HANS model? Should I toss a coin, or any more suggestions?

Can you explain further the soft tissue damage? Never heard of that, and some off-roaders love it.
Profi II over the Hybrid? Interesting. Doesn't the metal t-buckle from the sub straps bother you? It did in my Sparcos.

Off roaders don't really hit walls at 100+ mph either.
I never noticed the t-buckle when on track. I'm a bit lanky though.
Greg S 06-12-2007, 10:42 PM Schroth Profi-II, the 2" pull up lap belts are "very nyce[/borat]".
EDIT-I personally went with the 3" shoulders.

StackTrack 06-13-2007, 10:22 AM If you're on a budget, you can't beat the G-Force Pro-series 6-point cam latch for $135 from just about anywhere... Apexperformance.net, Racerwholesale.com, among many others. SFI and FIA labeled.

A friend has TeamTechs with the sternum strap in his car. It's one of those things that seems like a good idea beforehand but turns out not to be in actual use. IIRC BMW CR no longer allows sternum straps.

I have 6-point Schroths and don't find the sub-strap t-latch uncomfortable. And my thighs aren't as svelte as they used to be (too much info...? <g>).
Just need to get the lengths adjusted right.
I'm on my second set of Schroths. They just seem to be so nicely made compared to harnesses I use in other people's cars.

I saw them, I didn't know they were FIA. Interesting the separate shoulder straps are, but the H style are not. They should come HANS friendly, I got my share with the old Sparcos, but you can't beat that price.
