This past saturday my wife, daughter and I went to WGI to watch the 6 hour race. This also served as my 3 year old's intorduction to professional motorsports.

She loved it so much, she cried when we told her we had to leave. I think she is hooked. She wanted to see more racecars and more fire (burping from exhaust tips). Out of my 3 kids, this one is the one that will drive on track. She only drives her battery powered jeep in high gear, but she needs work on throttle modulation and steering inputs - dont want her to continue only turning left. We spent the day between T1, the garage, T9 and the bus stop.

There was carnage. The supporting F2000 race was yellowed within one lap and took out at least 2 cars. As a matter of fact, for most of thatrace, the track was quiet (as in running under yellow) and not wide open. The Rolex race went yellow by the bus stop of the opening lap - contact between Pruett and Auberlen which resulted in an ag excursion for the Pruet car. An rx8 lost it coming out of the bus stop and GPX-R was lost in an incident coming out of 9.

Met and chatted with the Bimmerworld guys. Team member family really took to my little one. My wife chatted with Seth Thomas about the Skip barber race school (she just signed me up for) and told him the story of how my M3 came to be. Met Robweenerpie and we just talked abiut what us guys talk about - cars, parts and driving. Great team with good people.

Im a in-season regular at the Seneca Lodge bar. As you know amongst the racing memoribilia, the bar is also decked out with College and University pennants. I made a contribution by giving the lodge a Virginia Tech pennant dedicated to the memory of Mike Pohle (my neighbor who was fataly shot).

Awesome event.

Plans changed last minute and I couldnt go. :( Looks like a good time. Props to the BW guys, especially Seth and James, who always make themselves available to chat it up with their fans and followers.

I would've snatched those F2000 parts. That stuff makes great garage art. I collect carbon fiber racing artifacts. :D
