View Full Version : Funnist/Most Interesting Thing to Fly out of, or into Your Vert
doulos4jc 06-11-2007, 08:37 PM On a crisp fall day last year driving down a country road surrounded by giant oak trees an acorn hit the wife right in the forehead :eyecrazy and made her cry :(. It definetly wasn't funny at the time, but when we think about it now we have to chuckle. :lol
gatorfan 06-11-2007, 08:46 PM left my CD case unzipped, had stashed a Starbucks gift card I got from work in there......bye bye
lseguy 06-11-2007, 09:12 PM the acorn story just made me snort out loud
PScalfano 06-11-2007, 10:57 PM Driving in Tennessee with 2 friends in the car, I see this big bug fly by my windshield, and I think to myself "that is one large insect, good thing I have a windshield..." and the next thing I know, BLAM! It hits me right below my left eye on my cheek. Good thing I had sunglasses on! So after I regained control and said a few choice words about exoskeletons, my friend says "tell me it was that HUGE bug I just saw..." sonofagun. I will never live that one down.
Mr CrEEP 06-12-2007, 02:11 AM You should buy "That Gunk on your car" its a book on identifying bug splats on your windshield.
I've had a piece of tissue float around nearly 20 seconds while driving with the top down. Also had a latex glove almost fly out - don't ask me what I was doing with a latex glove in my car. *evil laugh* hehe
Richie1404 06-12-2007, 02:38 AM A few months back, There was a bus load of school children and the bus stopped at traffic light when a child who had finished with his drink decided to throw it out of the bus window right into the nicest estroil blue m3.
Shame, It was funny
palomino 06-12-2007, 03:16 AM my dad didnt realize that operating the windsheild washers at a red light with the top down was probably not a good idea.
S.A.B. 06-12-2007, 09:52 AM Back when I was in highschool, my sister's bird took a liberating ride out of my old E30 325ic.
I hated the little bastard because he would never shut up. Same note, 24/7. Stupid parakeet.
Anyway, I was supposed to take it to the vet but it had a slight "cage malfunction" on the way there. Short story short, the little bugger got vortexed out of the top of the E30 around 65MPH. He did a few summersaults in the air, recovered quite nicely, and flew away (I watched all of this from the rear view mirror).
bigbilly 06-12-2007, 10:30 AM I almost lost a blazer/jacket once, driving home from the airport. It flew off an aftermarket coat hanger attached to the driver's seat and luckily flopped around into the back seat.
Early on I had the plastic covering from the hood roundel peel off and land in the back seat on the way TO the airport. (It has since been replaced.)
Maybe I should just stop going to the airport?
patrickrolfsen 06-12-2007, 10:51 AM A can of coke once levitated for about 15 seconds... of course I had to watch b/c it was cool. Way to pat attn to driving Patrick.....:rolleyes
chazpin 06-12-2007, 01:02 PM A foul ball from a little league game not too far from my house. The road goes right by the first base line and I had began to slow down due to people crossing at the cross walk up ahead. Little did I notice the foul ball falling towards my car till it bounced once right in front of me, then into my backseat. Talk about lucky. That sucker would have made one serious dent in my hood had I not slowed down for those people ahead.
I wonder if they would have called the kid out had it landed in the car without bouncing first. :rolleyes

*high five* :lol
Haven't had the car long enough to have a good fly in/out story, but man if I could count the times I've gotten into the car a few days after I had the top down, and was like "How the hell did this get here?"
jasontn 06-12-2007, 01:54 PM I know i have a lot of brown crap from my top that is constantly floating around in my car.....but i am sure NO one else has that problem...:-)
882001 06-12-2007, 04:39 PM not in the vert i was driving down the crowded freeway in miami when a fish about the size of a silver dollar comes flying in the sunroof. fish was wet and very freshly dead. still havent figgured that one out.
XJCASPER 06-13-2007, 12:57 AM I'm waiting for someone to mention a Condom
305bimmer 06-13-2007, 12:35 PM a condom
882001 06-13-2007, 06:37 PM new or used?
khenault 06-13-2007, 08:28 PM I had just registered my car, and I was on the way to get it inspected, so I left the registration in the console. Of course the registration flys around for a few seconds and it's gone. Back to the registry, $20 for a copy of the reg, then off to the inspection. On the way home from inspection, the original registration flew around the interior again, and I grabbed it out of the air. Damn, should have checked the back seat.
ComBIRDable 06-13-2007, 11:45 PM I'm on a freeway, and both lanes are stop-and-go. Traffic creeps up in my lane, opening up a one-car-lenght gap between me and the truck ahead of me. So I put it into gear. Just as I start to let out the clutch, an Audi one car length ahead of me in the other lane hits the windsheild washer fluid and this beautiful arc of washer fluid flies into my lane, in the spot I was just about to pull up into. Twice. Needless to say, I left a buffer between me and the truck ahead of me until the Audi was well on its way.

Roxierux 07-04-2007, 08:11 PM Can't say how it happened but the garage door opener I had on my visor went flying over my head and exploded into pieces in the street. I picked up the main board with the battery still attached and the little rubber buttons exposed, brought it home and tried it out. It still works and to this day I have it in that condition to remind me to secure everything when the top is down.
richardjjs 07-06-2007, 01:33 AM You know how to stop al this fun
Buy a Wind Deflector
Stops all this crap
Have use mine at 125 mph and nothing not even my wifes hair gets moved around
Even keeps the dog in place
Best accessori I have EVER bought for a car (Except possibly a Paddy Hopkirk heated windsceen washer kit I bought about 40 years ago for my mini!!)
But then perhps i am a spoil sport (Doesnt stop people throwing thing over you though)

Camelius 07-06-2007, 06:10 AM Wind Deflector works! Without deflector, as a heavy smoker, each time after i drive my vert, check the ashtray, always CLEAN! :) Dunno where all those ashes go other than the ones going right into my eyes...
But with the deflector, i can even light my cigarette easily at 140mph with top down (not with Zippo :) Just an ordinary cheap chinese lighter)...
And also i remember one of my friends sitting in the back seat, when the speed exceeds maybe 70-80 mph, i suddenly realized his glasses were almost gonna fly away... He finally grabbed it. And i saw all these thru my mirror.. Was funny...
Especially on the times when ppl get dressed and spend many times on their hair, i smile and accept their offer to sit in the back w/top down :) And start watching the movie 'ooh my hair' thru rearview :)
NiTrOuSoXiDe 07-06-2007, 01:12 PM I bought a whole bouquet of flowers for my girl and placed it in the back seat. I drove 30 minutes to meet her with the top down, and when I arrived there, the flowers were gone...
TreibeFroh 07-06-2007, 01:44 PM I drive home from work at night. The road leading to my house always has sprinklers on both sides and I have to ride down the middle.
On the way home about 2 weeks ago one of the sprinkler heads was broken and was shooting a guyser about 15 ft high in to the street (must have been under high pressure!). I couldn't go under the arc because it was raining water there. I had to sloooowly go up against the curb and around the whole mess before continuing on. I got a little wet from the spray. I bet the people around me were laughing.
NiTrOuSoXiDe 07-06-2007, 01:55 PM Haha, I would've just flew through it. A couple drops of water wouldn't hurt ya...
Unless your a cat.
eeeks 07-06-2007, 02:14 PM Pair of Panties....miami beach circa 1996 spring break.
car was a POS eclipse spider.....as we were coming out of our hotel parking deck.
MackemX 07-08-2007, 02:53 PM one time was when I threw my wallet on the passenger seat after filling up for petrol but little did I know it had flipped open. After driving down the motorway I noticed things fluttering to my left, it was a whole bunch of notes caught in the little wind whirlwind in the passenger area :). I couldn't slam the brakes on hard enough!!!
second time was when a plastic bag (that had been in my drivers door pocket) managed to get free and blow up into my face while driving along the motorway. I've also lost a plastic bag out of the car before but didn't know what was in it :D
so many things really have come in or out of the car. My biggest fear is a seagull flying sideways into my head as apart from hurting like hell, you'd probably end up crashing. I've had a few close encounters with birds and hate it when they fly sideways across you!
robmpulse 07-10-2007, 02:07 PM I lost about $300 in 10's and 20's a few weeks ago. HAd it in the console, and forgot when I put the top down. I was able to recover all but $20 bucks. Lucky bastard I was that day!
millertimebmw03 07-10-2007, 02:39 PM A few photos of me drinking for the first time in canada, they were FUNNY!! Lost the negs. too :(
Jeff48 07-11-2007, 02:31 PM Funniest out- - - at 70 mph without the windscreen attached, an empty soda can levitated out of the ill fitting cup holder (you guys know what I mean) and out over the right rear seat before I could grab it.
Funniest in - - - empty beer can bounces off the street three times and into the empty passenger seat, after being thrown out the window by the redneck in the pickup ahead of me.
johnshardrive 07-12-2007, 11:31 AM What does a wind deflector look like and where do I pick one up?????
