TQ numbers are significantly different.

One is an entirely new generation, M54 vs. M52TU.

Not sure if you're asking about stylistic changes, but the lower front bumpers are different. The older has custom-fitted foglights. The newer has round foglights. Also, the old have amber side markers, vs clear on the '01+.

everytime i hear any variance of the word "generation" i think about Star Trek... oh, it's been on cable lately too. :D
