I took delivery of a beautiful red 335 convertible 4 days ago and was disappointed to find that I couldn't pair my Samsung Blackjack with it (kept dropping), even after our IT guys installed the latest software. Can anyone please tell me which Cingular/ATT PDA phones work best with the bluetooth system (via the iDrive)?

Actually, I meant a 2007 335 (sorry, it's late)

Hello "peinnehmer":

This has been discussed before. Check out:

I purchased the RAZR V3m after reading this site. Bought the base plate and snap-in adapter too. See my previous posts. Works fine.

Bluetooth phones not on that list should pair, but there's no guarantee that all the features will work. I can pair my Sprint LG Fusic with most BMWs, but the phone book doesn't load.

Hello "Mad Dragon":

Yes they should. But then the bluetooth protocol stack is still not completely standardized. I thought it would be best to go ahead and pay the money and get the phone suggested on the BMW web site (RAZR V2m). At least then, I could point and wag my finger at them if it did not work. It does.

As previously posted, not sure that the base plate and snap-in adapter are worth the money.

Suggestion - take your car to your cellular store, and try the phone you like in the parking lot with your sim card installed. If it works, get the phone. See, simple!!

I have the cell dock adapter and for most people it probably isn't worth it. It is useful when I'm out in the boonies for the remote antenna and is nice not having to use a charger cable, but it is very pricey for these little benefits.

As I've mentioned before, I'm a store Manager for Cingular (Now AT&T) and I've found that my BB Pearl is by far the best PDA for my bluetooth. I had the same experience you did with the Blackjack, where it paired, but would drop. I wasn't sure if it was the device or the i-drive, but when I went back to my Pearl I had no problems again.

Hello "Mark335i":

Of course I intended to write "V3m" not "V2m". Sorry.

I purchased the adapter for the same reason you did. As previously noted, it does help in the remote areas but I am not sure it improves things $400 worth.

No problems connecting to either my wife's phone or my phone. My problem is that it doesn't automatically pair to my phone when I'm alone driving in the car. It still thinks my wife's phone is paired and her phonebook shows up in the NAV screen. I have to manually select my phone for my phonebook to come up and pair with the car.
