I'm looking for a good body repair/painter. I live in Grand Rapids, MI (About halfway between Chicago and Detroit). Anyone you guys in this area would trust with your cars?

Well, you see, when I was heading into work this past evening, I unfortunately discovered that some B@$%^ had egged my vehicle:mad. My best efforts to minimize damage failed. The spot where the egg hit is COMPLETELY destroyed. From what I think I see (I'm not an expert by any means) the major area where the ooze covered appears to be safe, but unfortunately the spot where the egg hit stripped the clear coat away, and I even believe I see primer/metal in some small spots. I know serious damage has been done, because the area where the egg hit is abrasive when I pass my hand over it.:(

Would anyone happen to have any pointers to give about the effect on egg on paint (because a good portion of my door was covered in the stuff). And more importantly, if any of you guys know a good body guy in this general area that I might be able to turn to to treat my car?

Also, any pointers on what to do to protect the wound until I can get it fixed?

Thanks for reading, and any help is GREATLY apreciated!

Egg's usually ruin the paint. There should be marks in the paint, and unfortuantely the only fix is a repaint. Sorry to give you the news. If it is rough, you MAY want to try a claybar, which might get rid of the roughness, but the paint chips will still be there.

yup..it`s kind of cool in a way..if you look close you can see where the egg shell fractures and keeps getting driven into the paint in wider and wider circles..suck for the car owner though..

I have a bodyshop and we see it ..nothing to do but repaint the area
