Ok - I know its stupid but I'm also probably not the first person to do this. I was on I90 heading to Boston last weekend moving at 80 in traffic when it started to drizzle a little. No problem - the rain just blew on over and the interior stayed dry. And it looked like it would clear so I didn't pull over and close up.

Then the thunderstorm rolled in - I drove for probably 15 minutes with my son yelling "Drive faster Dad!" The interior stayed pretty dry - I've got a wind deflector. Direct rain penetration was not very high but the water rolling along the rolled up windows turned and dropped in near my shoulder. Sounds like a mod would be possible here. Not a lot but it definitely was getting damp. Rear headrests also didn't get as wet as I expected. The hair on the top of my head got wet - not down the sides - sort of an upside down swirly.

I'm not sure how much longer I would have kept going like that but the storm ended after 15 minutes and when I got to Boston I toweled everything off. I'm not planning on making a habit of this but it was also incredibly fun. Maybe I should have bought a motorcycle.

I have done this before as well but only in a light rain. It was pretty fun however to just watch the water go up and over your head. Same deal here too nothing on the inside got wet.

I've been riding MC for quite some years. In that kind of weather you'll get soaked in 30 sec. I say stay with the vert. At least I am

If you are driving 80 MPH in a rain storm that does not sound to safe. To me you might have more to worry about than just rain coming in with the top down!

One of those heavy rain storms rolled in as we were returning from the beach, like cats and dogs, above 60mph an nothing got in the car, I have no problem driving with the top down in the rain, but I'd hate to slow down or stop while raining, It's the best to see people pointing at you like you don't know its raining out and you have the top down. he he he

The best date I ever had was getting caught in a rain storm in my e30 vert.

Great cars can be bought; great memories cannot.

I love it in the rain though! Like I said it sucks when you need to slow down!

Hey millertimebmw03 - I used your video guide today to fixing the dog ear on my vert this afternoon. It popped yesterday with my 12 year old son in the back seat - he immediately started calling out "I didn't do it!"

Ahh you must have different rain over there, we have the wet stuff over here in England you know the type that gravity makes fall down, yours OBVIOUSLY comes down at an angle, bounces off your screen and misses the rest of your car !
