Any thoughts on lowering my Touring w/Vogtland springs and using Bilstein Sport Stuts? How low would that drop it? Is the handling horrible w/this spring?
Thanks

Hey Thanks for the reply. Noob Question----How would I know if those would fit and where would I check? I just bought some Vogtland springs tonight. It might be a bit before I get struts, unless I find a great deal. Hint, Hint. I have to get the thumbs up from the wife in waves--little by little!! Mikeythekidd 06-05-2007, 09:57 AM I originally ordered Vogtland springs to use with Boge/Sachs OEM dampers but ended up going with Mtech springs because I wanted to do the front only with LAD in the rear. I've read about a lot of guys unhappy with the ride using Billstien Sport. I would just go with the Voghtland and the Boge/Sach($85 from BMA). I couldn't be happier with the ride! Is that on your Touring? Anyone else have any thoughts on Struts? Mikeythekidd 06-05-2007, 01:42 PM Thanks. Is that on your Touring? Anyone else have any thoughts on Struts? Yes...my Touring. Because of the LAD I couldn't use the rear springs so did not want to buy a kit with 4 springs. I bought 2 front Mtech springs from BMA for $105 each which dropped the front about 1". I also replaced 7mm upper spring pads with 3mm which gave me another 1/4" drop. The rear can be lowered by adjustment but I left it the way it was. The ride is awesome and it corners like it's on rails! shrike071 06-05-2007, 01:49 PM I have B&G springs and Bilstien HD's. I love the ride, and the car was lowered at least 1.6 or so... About as low as I'd want to go given that I actually use the wagon as, well, you know - a wagon. CSmith1 06-05-2007, 02:26 PM I have B&G springs and Bilstien HD's. What's better? Thanks for the input. E34nication 06-05-2007, 02:30 PM You can check part numbers or ask around on here... $200 shipped shrike071 06-05-2007, 02:34 PM Why Bilstien HD and not Bilstien Sport? What's better? Thanks for the input. I had heard disparaging things about the 'Sports' and was told by BMA that since I wasn't racing the car or driving it hard every day, that the HD ('Heavy Duty') set was the one for me. They're firm, but don't have the harshness associated with the Sports. It's all up to you. You lose a little on the performance-end of the spectrum (I guess...) but it makes up for it in ride quality. So..does anyone know if these would fit my 92 525iT..and is it a good idea installing used shocks? |
