View Full Version : Facelift! 56k=no
cliffhanger407 06-04-2007, 05:09 PM Well I ordered a bunch of parts from Umnitza, and I have to say that i'm impressed with the general quality, everything seems to be very sturdy. I will say splicing the AE's was a bit tedious, I didn't want anything to fall off so I actually did it the hard way and soldered once I found out that every wire is stranded, and I've had way too many problems trying to splice stranded wires before.
Anyway, I got the P39's (halogen) with clear tails and the new road rash bumper mod (btw, I'm probably going to get rid of that sometime soon).

All in all, like I said, I really like the quality of everything and I think it gives the car a much needed facelift. I bought the headlights with the group buy, so they took a while to get out, but I ordered my tails friday and got them today. Good service and better quality than you'd expect for a non OEM part makes me happy :alright.

Yup. I'll see what I can do. No reverse, but I'll get the brakes/drivings on.
BTW I have modified and done the double rear brakes (in the slot where the rear fogs go) so that will explain why i have 2x the brake lights (and therefore 2x the stopping time, right? right?) that aren't center brake lights as most E39.
*edit* It's uh... dark outside, and my SLR is dead so I'm having to take pics using a point and shoot where I can't adjust the shudder speed. Needless to say this is nary impossible, and the pics suck. Update tomorrow */edit*
cliffhanger407 06-04-2007, 09:45 PM change your sig
I will as soon as I can wash my car and charge the battery in the SLR :D
duckazn539 06-04-2007, 11:53 PM what do you mean by "splicing the AE's"
is that something you have to do in order to the AE's to work?

To get the angel eyes to work, they have to somehow be tied into the parking light line. This is a wire that runs straight into a plug which then plugs into the turn signal. Generally, I'd just use a butt connector to do something like this (google is your friend), but generally I don't have to work with things that bounce around for hours and hours at a time and I want to withstand everything.
With a solid wire, though, it wouldn't have been necessary (in my book, others may think stranded is fine too) to solder stuff together. I just feel more comfortable that I'll be able to keep my connections with a true solder than with a plug and chug connector.
That's a roundabout way of saying yes, you have to do some sort of connection to get stuff to work, and that connection is not included in the box. If it is, well I guess I did too much work.
BEMveE39 06-05-2007, 12:09 AM not bad keep it up!

From www.umnitza.com
Headlights (through group buy): $433
Tails (through discounted shipping): $150
From www.bavauto.com
Side markers: $30
Cheap mods, all considered. A few more cosmetic things and then I'll start saving for shocks, exhaust, brakes, twin turbos, and damn are those things expensive. Eventually, I want to turn this into an M5 killer (eventually):D.
e39dream 06-05-2007, 12:18 PM MAJOR improvement!
rogcontact 06-05-2007, 01:17 PM Dang, the only thing I want is the Headlights, but 433... DAMN... I got those tails already, they are soo much better
Ellicit 06-05-2007, 01:23 PM Time for an M5 bumper upgrade?

Very much so. Anybody got one just laying around they want to give me? :)
Tone7171 06-05-2007, 02:03 PM I just did the exact same to my car! I bought the AE's first a while ago, then did the side markers probably a couple months ago, and the new tails just arrived yesterday and I installed them. I am going to on a photo shoot today to take some beautiful pictures, might need to get her washed first though...
