My convertible got plowed in the back by a semi, insurance sold me the car, so now I am parting it. Everything in the car is super clean with a lot of fresh upgrades.

3.2L engine with about 55k miles - had under 50 when I installed it in the car, all stock with carbon valvecover.

VF Supercharger - maybe 2k miles - installed it over the winter for summer fun, which was never fully realized :(.

The software for the package is something we worked on, removed the rear 02 sensors so no cats are needed, removed the air pump, and pulled the EWS so this engine package can be installed in any car as a drop-in with no wiring or starting issues.

I am selling as a full package only - will toss in the lightweight flywheel, clutch (stock M3) as well. Package is fully assembled, ready to drop in - no hunting for missing parts or instructions. I will strap it in a crate and freight it to your door (freight not included) or you can come to the shop to pick it up. WILL NOT SEPARATE so please don't ask.

Price for the full package is $7k. Email me if interested, I don't check PMs. 6 speed trans, Euro diff, etc is also available.

Thanks. Doesn't suck that bad I guess. No more convertible and after some thought, I don't have enough interest to build another one (had this one for about 7 years). But with the wagon on the way...

ecu included?
You bet and due to the custom software, it can go in any car. All accessories for the engine are included as well. It is a plug and play engine package for any E36 car or can drop in E30, E34, and others with a little effort.

Trans had a cracked bellhousing from shipping damage - we welded it up and it has been solid on the car for about 6 years. Dif is a 3.64 built with an E46 M3 slip carrier, about 30k miles, needs output seals I think. Would include the big Euro subframe with Powerflex bushings. $4k

Sorry. It gets worse. Shipping probably not so bad if we put it on the rig for the Toronto GP in July...

What kind of performance did this setup provide in an E36 vert? Was it comparable to an E46 M3? Better? For example, in addition to approximate torque, how would you characterize it -- like what rpm did it really start pouring on, was hp peaky, etc.?

I guess I'm trying to ask is, if I had $7k to spend upgrading my powertrain, why I would I choose your setup as opposed to, say an S54? Please don't get me wrong -- I'm not challenging you or anything. I seriously don't know, but I would like to, so that's why I'm asking.

I know the swap into an E36 vert is much more straightforward with your motor (as opposed to an S54), but assuming installation is taken care of, and strictly from a performance perspective, what would you highlight as being the major benefits of your motor vs. an S54?

Thanks very much in advance for any advice and/or opinions you're willing to share in this regard.

Cheers

this setup should create probably s54 csl hp and WAY MORE TORQUE!

Correct. I am and have always been a huge fan of all motor setups. I love the S54 and will run this setup into the ground on the track. But for a vert, and any fouul street car, the SC torque makes a HUGE difference.

What else is on the car. You say that you are parting the car out. Do you have a parts list?

Hrmm. I will find out tomorrow how annoying it would be to swap both motor and transmission into my e46...I've been thinking about going this route for awhile now. Any chance there's a price break for buying engine/sc and transmission all together? ;)
