I just started working on my new rims.

My final setup is going to be

20*9 in the front with a 3" lip and still clear a big brake kit

20*10.5 in the rear with a 4" lip

I am thinking of running a 245/35/20 in the front

and a 285/30/20 in the rear?

Has anyone on this forum put a 285 tire on the back of the 7 series yet?

iforged,

In the first pic below is a comparison shot of a Pirelli P-Zero Asymettrico 285/40/ZR18 and next to it is the Dunlop SP9000 also a 285/40/ZR18.

The middle pic is the car in a turn wearing the Pirellis. Note that even under load the fender made NO contact with the tire.

The third pic is the same set of Pirelli tires showing the fitment while the car is parked. Sorry for the crew shot but it was the best view of the rear tire I have loaded onto a server.

Watch your offsets with the 285. My Fikses and SSR GT3s have a 28mm offset in the rear.

I am planning to use

20*9 with a 18mm offset

20*10.5 with a 34mm offset

Unless your wheel face is dead-flat with the hub surface, you should not have any problem with a big brake kit. Probably about .25" of spoke clearance will clear any BBK.

Because of the deep rotor hat that the E38 (and all 5,6,7,8-series) uses, the caliper is further away from the spokes than in the 3-series:

Then maybe I should put a 9.5 in the front with a 3.5" lip
and a 20*10.5 in the rear with a 4" lip. Rob are you selling those UUC big brake kits yet, and do you have a kit for my E38. :D

How much scalloping of the backside of the face can you do? With a 14" kit, your ciritical clearance area is at the 6.5"-7.5" radius point.

The very first application we did was for the E38, on my own car.

We have been gearing up for production, the first E38 "standard production" kit is going out to verify a field installation next week. That is the stage where the kit is presented in the form that customers receive it, and we have a third party do the installation without our on-site assistance in order to make sure all directions are clear and all parts required are packaged correctly.

So the answer effectively is "yes", front and rear kits are available with no more than a 1-week lead time. Your choice of red, black or the polished calipers.
