I just bought an X5 03 4.4I on 20" Chrome BMW 5 spokes. The problem is that the rear tires are wearing heavily on the inside. I got an allignment, but it doesn't seem to have corrected the problem. Is this normal, at this rate I'll need tires twice a year. Any suggestions?

well, BMW alignment specs are to run negative camber in the rear for stability and handling. You could straighten them up as much as possible. They'd technically be out of alignment, but it may help some with the wear.

Thanks. That's what I've been told from a couple diff dealerships. I guess that' s just the price you pay to play.
How many miles are you getting out of your tires? My first set of 19s lasted 33k miles with a rear camber setting of -1.9. Not bad for a 5000 lb truck running on summer soft rubbers.

I had the same issue on my diamaris 4x4, visited stealer and they told me about neg. camber. they wanted me to do alligment and pay for it (arround $300) but thx. to the fact that I had original v-spoke 19" I disagree with it and make them do the alligment, bring camber to the plus side as much as possible (make them off alligment). I told them that is the BMW issue and I'll not pay for the new set of tires every 20k that's becouse BMW can't solve this problem. If this adjustment change the handling or performance? I did not noticed, I don't street race the car, is still very dependeble on the turns and sticks to the ground.

What if you switch the tires only and not wheels, from left to right and right to left, so that the inside goes to the outside after the switch. Might not be the best idea, but you might want to try at your own risk.

well do u have air ride if so the tech doing the aligment should have the truck runing due to the air ride when off changes the angle of the aligment in the rear.
