I know the euro cars do not have traction control but it seems there is some type of limiter connected to the tranny for 1st gear. Check out this link from a UK BMW forum.

Has anyone here have these issues?

I followed that thread in detail when it was first posted. Others have confirmed that it does exist. One of the UK tuners posted an image of the map in the ECU where it exists. Some have tried disconnecting the "in-gear" switch and said the "nanny" was temporarily deactivated....temporarily? :confused

I'd like to hear more feedback from the members here.

i can feel it in my car. It pulls timing to about 6k, then you feel it advance back. Weird feeling.

i posted up the proceedure and it certanly minimised any flatness in the low gears. not the reverse light switch thou cos that just takes the reverse lights out.

IMO the 3.2 is very sensative to its readings from the LAMBDA and MAF, and also the mode it is driven in. Its a good idea to give some WOT throttle occasionally to keep it in the happy zone

Frankly in my car i cant feel it at all, maybe it is cuz i have the Z3M engine which comes with the 5 speed.. and so no "in-gear" switch on my tranny exists...or maybe it is cuz 1st/2nd gear 1/2WOT will light up the tires
i guess it is one of those B32 mysteries.. just another reason why the B30 is a better buy

This is the map BSH was referring to:

Yes, that's it! Thanks for posting. :)

Does the Z3M Siemens DME have a different part number than the Evo M3 DME?

dunno man we swapped ECU's me and my friend (he has a e36 m3 3.2 vortech s/c'd) and the ECU's worked both ways...
i wanted to see if the bogging down below 4500rpm was from the ECU

i wanted to see if the bogging down below 4500rpm was from the ECUDidn't you have to realign EWS when you swapped ECU's?

Anyways, swapping to the M3 DME with your existing 5-speed tranny didn't result in the 1st gear nanny either? That's very interesting.

Mine is disconnected, and I don't really notice any timing cut around 6k. It rips to 7600 just as fast in any gear.

when we swapped the ECU's we swapped the rectangular EWS box/antenna ring/key as well with the ECU and it fired up normally ;)

it is the immobilizer... if you dont have the EWS box of the ECU and the key that came with the car, then the engine will fire up, and after 1 sec shut off automatically.. so it's quite important for swap project
