I’m selling the original equipment wing from my 1995 M3. This includes the “BMW Motorsport” insert that I have never seen on another M3 to date, but was able to verify it’s authenticity in the ETK as the part was available in Europe.

The spoiler is cosmos black and the paint is 99.5% perfect (there is 1/4” diameter discoloration in the clearcoat which shows as a haze in certain light).

Price is $ 350. I’m located near Baltimore, MD but will ship at the buyer’s expense.

Pictures are attached, and please contact me via PM.

Thanks,
Jeremy

What's the part number on the spoiler? Trying to figure out whether it's the coupe or sedan spoiler (look very similar).

Would you sell without the insert? Can you stick a 3rd brake light in there?

^^in the picture above your post the spoiler is shown on a coupe.....so I would assume it is for a coupe

The Eurospeed FAQ says that some coupes came with sedan spoilers.

http://www.eurospeed.org/m3faq/exterior.html

Q. Why do some coupes have different BMW rear wings?

A. BMW produced two rear wing designs with an integrated third brake light. If the option was ordered, M3 coupes were delivered with a high arch rear wing, whereas M3 sedans came with a flatter, squared-off wing design. However, for reasons unknown, if the wing was added later on by the dealer, the wing designed for the sedan was installed on both models. When looking at a coupe, you should be able to determine whether the wing was installed at the factory or not.

Would you sell the Insert seperate?

I might be interested in the wing if I had part numbers, pictures of the mounting points, and a picture of the "haze". omak81 can have the insert.

I'll take pictures of the mounting points and provide the part numbers once I escape from the office this weekend. I'll also capture the haze as well as reference as to its size.

I will separate the wing and insert if I have two committed buyers.

Hey man I will buy that insert and send you my regular red insert so you will have one to go inthere if you like. Then maybe you wouldn't have to find another buyer?

The wing in still for sale. I owe CRYPTiC part numbers and pictures, but I was called out of town for work this weekend and could not provide the info. I will provide these as soon as possible, and for now they are still first in line.

As far the private message I keep receiving for the insert, I will not separate this part at this time. I do not know how the insert is attached, and I will not cause any damage to the insert nor wing in trying to remove so as to sell the two parts to two different parties. The buyer of the wing may choses to remove the insert and sell separately and that is okay, but I do not want to attempt this and possibly damage one or both items and negate sales.

Sorry for the delay but I have been out of town for the past two weeks. This has been the first opportunity to take pictures. Please let me know if you would like any further detail...

Got a picture of the other mount? Also, would you mind circling where in the other pictures that haze is located?

BTW, is that part number correct? I can't find it anywhere in the ETK. What's the number surrounded by foam? I can make out "51.71-2 256 ???" or something like that.

Sure I'll take a few more pictures tonight after work. Hopefully there can be more natural light so the flash doesn't obscure the numbers like last time.

Just to give you some more detail in advance of the pictures, the haze is located on the top of the wing and is approximately centered from side to side and front to back. The part number that you were trying to read from the image is the one that I posted. It's difficult to read in person, and in the image -- next to impossible because of the flash. There are markings on the other mount that i'll take pictures of tonight that say E36/2 XXX XXX. Not the part number but looks like the model code followed by some descriptive info.

Hope this helps.
Jeremy

would it fit the sedan? please confirm there isn't a 3rd brake light in that spoiler like the US versions.

I am not sure if it will fit a sedan, and there is no 3rd brake light.

Thanks for the pictures. You've been really helpful.

Last two questions: Have you ever taken out the insert? Also, can the brake light wiring still be routed through the spoiler?

jww///95
06-21-2007, 02:21 PM
Not a problem, and thanks!

I've never removed the insert, but i would assume that you could install a 3rd brake light since the wing appears identical to those with the lamp installed and seems to be hollow. Then you would need to add a hole for the wiring at one of mounts.

Then you would need to add a hole for the wiring at one of mounts.

Are you referring to the trunk lid or the spoiler? I was under the impression that the circular object in your picture of the driver's side mount on the spoiler was a conduit leading to the insert area.

jww///95
06-21-2007, 05:43 PM
The spoiler since the circular object you see is a 3/8" deep depression that is probably what's mean to be punched/drilled out but it is in fact solid at this time. The difference in color is because there is a puddle of clearcoat at the bottom.

CRYPTiC

Hmm ... The numbers above "Zender GmbH" match the numbers on my spoiler. And it's the right paint color. But I'm not interested in spending money for the insert and I'd be afraid to drill into the spoiler for the wiring without knowing that the rest of the conduit is there.

I'll relinquish my dibs for anyone who wants the spoiler+insert. Otherwise if you're selling only the spoiler and know what it looks like behind the insert, contact me first. :)

Bump for a forthright seller.

it's odd because the bmw no. doesn't pop up anywhere i look. it looks like a regular m-technic wing with the insert which appears to still be available to but from the dealer. for you guys busting the op's balls, just go buy a new one at the dealer.

anyway, if braymond bails i'm next in line.

btw, the insert is bmw no.: 51 71 2 258 239 and cost probably $40.
