Anyone else got about the supposive limit of 155. I got my odometer to read about 165. Just wondering if something's out of place here? Otherwise what's the fastest you've gotten yours upto?

I've managed to hit about 140, car had plenty more left though

180 and she was still creeping

I've been just over 150, according to the speedometer. 45,000 according to the odometer, though. :D

165 on the Autobahn outside Stuttgart last week. I was curious about the 155 limit as well.

140 on the freeway, middle of So Cal. It had a lot left to go. I was in 5th gear and it was nowhere near time to shift. Hopefully I can get higher at some point.

I was cruising at 120 and it looked like the next group was up about a mile, so I kicked it up to 140 and I came up to them like they were standing still and I was doing 80. Almost frightening.

185, but the GPS said it was actually 176. That is on an unrestricted stretch of Autobahn. Still had throttle left, but traffic comes up pretty fast at that speed :eyecrazy

Oh, forgot to mention that the custom tune took care of that pesky top speed limiter!

I was actually heading to the Ring. :) (live in Italy now) Can't have an M3 in Europe and not make a trip to the Ring. :) Actually, I was still accelerating, but hit traffic. Got some decent pics tho. (I wasn't taking them myself!) As far as I know, my car isn't modded at all, other than Konis I put on the other week. BTW, does anyone know what the comparison in the coefficient of drag is in coupe vs. cabrio. My friend said he thought it was getting light in the rear at that speed and was getting nervous.

and M3 is not restricted in 5th grear. the 155 mph limiter only kicks in, in 6th gear

also M3 spedo's are notorious for being off a little bit, so basicly as the speeds get really high the speed reading is wrong, its usually lower then the spedo's readings

if you want a true reading you need a GPS reading or laser from a cop (id much rather have the first)!

152 or so in my 328 (barely took a glance). Comin up the 5 right before I-8 at around 2 in the morning last night. Took forever to climb to that speed...it was a nice downhill slope too haha.

i know i dont drive an e46 but my friend def took some pics of my e36 speedo at 155mph i have a chip that elimates my limiter and i was a hare past redline but before fuel cutoff

How much is the ticket for going 147? Did you get arrested for reckless driving?

this is true of all speedometers, not just an M3 thing, typically speedos are anywhere from 5-15% off from the factory...the higher the speed, the more inaccurate they become, especially in the triple digits. so basically if someone says hey i was doing 170mph on the hwy and we'll just call it 10% off for easy numbers, then you are actually at 153, still fast (to fast for roads) but no 170.

I have had the speedo read 170 mph several times.
