So I got a V1 and the remote module with my car and for some reason it doesn't seem to detect that well. It goes off every now and then but for the most part it is silent. I have seen plenty of cops and it didn't even go of one those things that tell you your speed. I set the mode to A and volume is maxed out and I know it works since it goes crazy every now and then. I heard V1s are notorious for false alerts. Any ideas?

It is a radar detector not a cop detector.
The failure to alert to a particular speed sign might have one of
several causes:
1) The speed sign may employ an FM-CW modulation technique to sense the direction of vehicles in its field of view. This feature is used to isolate departing from oncoming traffic. The V1 does not recognize FM-CW modulation as a valid police radar signal and tries to reject it. FM-CW is allowed for license-free "Part 15" devices by the FCC. FM-CW is not allowed for police radar. There are numerous traffic-volume sensors using FM-CW spread all around metropolitan areas these days that detector owners would rather not produce an alert. Otherwise freeway driving (in Cincinnati, at least) would be very annoying. It's a good thing that the V1 rejects FM-CW modulated signals.
2) The speed sign may have drifted out of the police radar band from aging or temperature. "Part 15" devices are somewhat notorious for this behavior. Automatic door sensors and Doppler security sensors are both "Part 15" devices, too. Few automatic door sensors use FM-CW because of the added expense. The speed sign devices can afford the added cost of including the FM-CW modulating hardware.
3) The V1 in question may need for our service department to have a look at it to make sure it is operating correctly.

I know that, I am just saying it doesn't even seem to even give me false alerts. The alerts at best last for a beep, only once or twice have I seen it go off like crazy.

where is the unit placed?
drive to a walgreens and see if K band picks up. If you have it on All Bogeys and you arent getting X band alerts every 2 mins then I would send it in for them to test. It may have fallen out of calibration.

hmm any other places that I could test since I am not sure where the nearest walgreen is. I don't think I have gotten a single X band alert, only times I've seen it go off twice and seems to be when the cops to have the radar on full blast. Here is a pic I took a while ago (it is connected now):

You are saying it goes crazy on A mode, but not on other modes?

If it is on (A)ll bogeys mode and you arent getting X band alerts, Call Valentine One and ask for Mike. That unit is definately out of whack. Send it in and you'll have your V1 back within 7 days... if not sooner.
their CS is great.

Usually $85 for the repair. Did you buy it new? I would send it in. Mine would only pick up signals from behind soo I sent it back...

i cant think of whats is called, uv blocking, like on some windshields (most actually) you notice the the top and bottom have a like a blue line, well sometimes this blocks signals, thats why they leave a space for ezpass

yeah I verified it, definitely not receiving any x-band, called up valentine and told me to send it in since they said it should be driving me crazy. Thanks guys.
