Just curious if any of you could recommend a good shop for my M3? I've looked around in the yellow pages but didn't really come up with anything. Anybody know a good independent mech that knows his M3's?

Also while combing the yellow pages I couldn't find an effin' dyno!!! Anybody know of one? We could probably get a cheap dyno day if anybody is interested.

I'm not gonna trek all the way to KC to dyno a heatsoaked stock motor. I'm doing before and afters as well so I'd need to use the same dyno.

Sports car garage down on 13th street seems to run the gamut. Seen a few M's, and alot of 2002's go in and out along with plenty of other stuff. They're good guys and seem to do reasonably priced work, although I've never had work done there, I know Craig had his e30 down there all the time. They've also taken pity on me and sold me parts at near cost a few times. Guys looked at me like I was nuts when I came in covered in grease asking about some seals on a friday afternoon, but then saw my e30 smiled and grabbed the parts. Also let me borrow a couple special tools ( I did reciprocate with copious amounts of cookies/doughnuts).

dyno, "The shop" in lincoln (NOT the one in Counciltucky)

They are running a special of $50/hr until April 1st.

Just curious, what kind of work are we talking about here? :)

No work needs done to the car. I was just kind of thinking earlier that I don't really know of a good indy mech in town yet, so I figure I'd start researching in case something big comes up. I'm an 8/10 with a wrench and an engine so short of something major I do all my own work. But knowledge never hurts.

Know of anyplace with a dynojet?

And april 1st is long gone. Unless you mean april 1st 2008

I have been to the Sports Car Garage before as well. I can't remember the owners name but I could tell just from talking with him about the work I wanted done that he takes pride in his work. His shop is a mess, but he does good work. I believe he is the only registered BMW Indi in Omaha. I have also had some minor things done at Papillion Foreign Motors. Rick is the owner and he is very friendly and knowledgeable. Good to see another M3 owner around here.:alright\

Now that I think about it, I've been meaning to get a compression test done. mainly for shits and giggles before I start modding the car I wanna make sure everything is top notch. It took 2 years but I finally caught the mod bug.

Can't say I've ever seen you out? Where do you usually cruise?

I don't really cruise much anymore. My wife and I just had our first little one, so I haven't been getting out as much as I would like. I live in Bellevue, but I visit friends on 156 and 108 and Maple. I work downtown so I am around there too. I missed the lunch last week, but I plan to meet up at the next one. It would be nice to meet the other BMW owners around here.

I'll be doing some work on my e30 next weekend (what weekend am I not working on it? :lol) if anyone wants to swing by and hangout, don't worry, you won't be put to work unless you volunteer.

Parking is a small issue I don't live in a very nice part of town (10th & hickory) cascio's steak house old parking lot is right across the street and usually available.

Some how my rear brake lines got nicked while the car was being pulled/aligned, but the shop assures me it wasn't their fault. So I'll be replacing brake lines, sway bar bushings and a strut.

Anybody heard of that shop in Elkhorn? I can't think of the name of it right now. But I went in there a while back before I replaced my suspension to ask him how much he'd charge for it and the first thing he said was that I should replace all my bushings while I had it apart. So that to me said he wasn't a complete M3 noob.

new bushings = good thing for any car, its just common sense :D

Couldn't tell you about the shops, I enjoy manhandling my rear subframe etc.

I've had two people recommend that place to me. One of them is a guy from Germany that has him work on his classic VW (I don't know details) and drives an X5 so I give his opinion a little extra weight. : )

Marvin who runs Eurowerks - just off 84th & south of Harrison is a good BMW and Audi mechanic - he has done a lot of work on E36's. And he was the only mechanic who knew how to reset the factory radio of the E30 after the AC shop replaced the evaporator.
