ok, so I was going to flush my system out tonight but didn't know I needed a crush washer for the drain plug. All the auto parts stores were closed and the parts department won't open until tuesday. I checked home depot, lowes and ace and nothing, just a bunch of dumb looks. Anyone know who carries this piece of crap.

Hahaha, that cracked me up. Pretty much describes my opinion of the car overall.

Welcome to owning a BMW.

the oil filter box should come with:
1: oil filter (no duh)
2: rubber ring (for the oil filter cap)
3: crush washer (for the drain plug)

only if you buy OEM filter it comes with #3. that'll teach 'em to buy only OE part.

Go back to ACE and ask for a copper washer, bet they have them, well at least mine does. They just don't know that they are crush washers or what a copper washer would be used for! My store has them in the boxes that have the pull out drawers usually in the isle with the nuts and bolts.

Really? I don't think mine came with one (#3)! I ended up buying the drain plug/crush washer combo for $3 because I wasn't sure. I have to double check now. Where do you buy your filters from?

Edit: *shakes head* Yep, it's in the box. Ugh.

I guess I did not make it clear, I meant for the blcok drain plug. I am pretty sure it must be aluminum cause the block is aluminum and I don't want the metals to react.

Maybe you can call around some auto repair centers like Jiffy Lube, etc and they might have them that they will sell to you?

most big name auto parts stores carry them(autozone, advance, pep boys etc.) they are usually near the lube products(gear oil etc) also look in the Help section(the red boxes with all the weird parts in them) they usually have an assortment of crushwashers box.

What color was the washer on the plug when you pulled it, orange or silver? Replace it with the same color.

I buy my oil filters at advance they always have the gasket and the washer included. They are just your basic filters.

No you don't understand, well you do but it's the wrong understanding, my fault I should have clarified. I meant for the coolant, not the oil.
