Changing the wheel will not fix your airbag problem.

A sensor has been tripped. Does the airbag light stay on permanently? If so, then swapping airbags won't work and there's a fault in the system which has to be fixed by BMW or a specialist.

If the light stays on for 2 mins then goes out, then it means that the seatbelt sensor is faulty or the cluster has been removed with the electrics on. In this case, the airbag still works fine. The light just needs to be reset.

If you just want to get an aftermarket sports steering wheel, the light will stay on permanently unless you do some fiddling around.

P.S: How long have you had the car/how old are you? You seem like a know-it-all.

watch out if u have an accident too... if insurance finds you have a non airbag steering wheel in a car that originally had one, you might be screwed

to funny lol@know it all . well mate it doesnt take a genius to know the airbag light can not stay on if the steering wheel isnt in the car does it?

the light is on the steering wheel itself not in the dash i have taken it to a so called "specialist" and they cant fix it.

so rather then pay shiit loads of money to get it fixed i thought i would look for a nice wheel ................. as for the other about be screwed with insurance. i dont have insurance . i am screwed!!
