For those that have done this conversion, what has been your cost, start till reliably running, for this conversion?

Nice, glad to see there is a Euro forum.

This should help greatly.

Oh, post # 2 in this forum.

I have nothing valuable to add this this topic though, although I've seen a 14k conversion.

wow for that kind of money why not just go turbo and make twice the amount of power as a euro motor?

Well if you read my sig you'll see I went supercharger. I just loved the idea of a Eurospec motor.

EDIT: Thats if you were asking me.

For those of us that track our cars, turbo or sc cars running on the track in the summer heat doesn't last very long.

also many people like the concept of the euro S50's
N/A high revving high strung high specific output mpowered i-6 .. yes it has a very lousy power/money ratio but power isn't everything :), imho i love the mpower sensation...even the stock S14...i used to always prefer driving it over the way more powerful custom turbo'd car i had at the time...

and as the others mentioned .. most importantly hard driving for hours and no oil/water temp issues whatsoever... *knock on wood* ;)

If you have to ask you will never understand. it not all about the power, its the revs, individual throttle bodies, better oiling etc. etc. that makes them so apealing. Hard to explain. Its the difference between an all conquering corvette and an S2000 with an 8500 RPM redline.

Light, nimble, responsive, throttle response etc.

You can spend anywhere from $8000 to $15,000 for a basic euro swap depending on what components you decide to use/add/upgrade/replace/install. Labor will significantly vary the cost depending on if you do it yourself or pay a mechanic.

Selling your old drivetrain will subsidize the project a bit, usually by about $5k.

Hmmm Not sure US M3 motors with some miles are worth $5K?

Drivetrain includes tranny, driveshaft, exhaust, etc not just the motor.

OK

Yah I was thinking of just swapping the motor, the 6 speed and everything would be nice.

BTW love your car, sits perfect and it has Euro power!!! Pure sex.

Pm me if you ever decide to sell :-)

A "built" Euro motor can run more than $15k. At least, that's our experience on ours.

Agreed.

I have a resource in the chicago market that believes they can do a transplant of a S50B30 into E36 for about 2K in labor. This estimate is 6 months old, and not my own personal estimate, so this tech's fees may change with the volume in his shop or the seasonal changes in volume.

This cost is based on the customer supplying the majority of parts such as header back exhaust, proper radiator, proper oil lines and cooler, reservoir. It may or may not include AC work, that needs to be negotiated directly with the tech and may be variable depending on what parts are needed.

S50B32 going into a EWS II equiped car would be same charges, however, the tech may charge more for S50B32 into non-EWS cars, or E30 chassis for example.
