View Full Version : Im Back & I Need Your Input on My E30
It's been almost 2 years now without any contact, but I'm back and I need your guys' help on my situation. I'll get into the past later if anyone cares, but the whole mess yields a stripped and gutted 1989 325iS in my garage that I need to sell. So here's my problem.....I have no idea what other market to inquire to other than the autocrossers and track racers on this board as to how I sell this thing. Some of you may remember seeing the car, and if you remember its condition, it's immaculate in terms of paint & lack of rust. Structurally is where the car has been compromised. Below is a break-down of what its got.
Removed:
-Interior [seats, side pannels, carpet]
-Engine & Trans & Wiring Harness & Drive shaft
Damage:
-Removed front two fenders
-Scraped up hood from negligent tow truck driver. Structurally perfect.
-Frame damage below front driver side door somewhat fixed by Roache's Front End &Frame [deemed drivable for racing, not good idea for street]
Extras on it:
Fully GC Coilover Kit
4pt Rollcage
So what do you guys think I should do with this? What I'd like to do is take out the coil overs cage and brakes, but then id just have a big red box in my garage that cant go anywhere and probably no one wants.
If you want a second input on the car, contact Brant.
Oh, and while I have your attention, I just want to thank everyone who helped me out when i messed up in Manassass. I seriously appreciate what all you guys did for me that day to help out. But, again, ill get into that later.
Best Wishes,
Anthony Pinto

M3zie 05-24-2007, 06:34 PM What are you looking to get for it? And when you say fenders removed, they're back on the car now right? Maybe not original, but it has fenders?
Does it look like the above pic today?
I have an unfinished driver side fender that Richard Sperry painted the interior lining of that's lying around but the passenger side one i told to a fellow e30 owner in need.
My dilemma is whether or not to sell with the coilovers & cage. Price would vary on what the prospect owner wants in it. Personally I really want my coilovers to swap over into my other e30, but for me to finish off the e30 in progress i need the money. As far as the cage goes, i doubt it'll be going in my other e30 so i'd like for that to be sold still installed in the car.
And no....it doesnt look like that pic. The one above was taken 3 days before a mishap at an autocross where the drivers side front tire was smashed into the floorpan damaging the frame. The only panel hurt by the accident was that fender and some minor scrapes to the front airdam. Since then it's been in various body shops in attempt to straighten the frame and in my own garage out of the sun just sitting.
BUNTA 05-24-2007, 10:30 PM Was your cage a weld or bolt in one?
Do you have any pics of it?
Id be interested if the price was right.
PM me.

unreel 05-24-2007, 10:56 PM I'd keep the coilovers on it if you're looking to sell soon. Then just take the money and buy yourself another set for your e30.
Good to see you're back by the way. :)
Thanks unreel. Im really looking forward to getting together with you local e30 guys. I think we just about all have either zino or brilliantrot too which is pretty cool.
Rabid Irish 05-25-2007, 04:04 PM Welcome back man!! I have seen the shell in question. Personally I would keep the coils for your e30, and put your stock parts onto the shell. As for the cage decide if you want it or if you don't. It's a bolt in so if you wanna keep it it isn't hard to get out, but if you don't want it you can leave it in there or remove it and sell it. On another note, how's Brant's work playing out for you? Last time I saw it the new e30 was looking good. Best of luck
Thanks for the kind words Irish. Im trying to put a face to the name but nothings sparking. Im hoping to swap the coils but if it will help the shell sell faster than i'd be willing to suck it up as there are higher priorities.
Brant's work and dedication has been fantastic. We both went through far more headaches than we had hoped in the stressful 8 month span but the final product couldn't have been better or accomplished by anyone else. Mechanically the new one is flawless.
But seriously....maybe I was never meant to own one. 2wks after Brant finished, my friend who had his e46m3 at brant's rearended someone in my e30. That friend & Jeff Shaw took care of everything making it beautiful again. But my luck struck again 372 miles & 3 days later when a family of deer jump out in the middle of the night and i wack Bambi in the same exact place the rear-ending accident occurred. Insurance isn't covering it either so it's all out of pocket. Again.
I'll post more later on the project e30 headache but here's what she looks like after 9 months of searching & 13hrs of my detailing.

Rabid Irish 05-26-2007, 08:04 AM It's Patrick........lol
Hahhahahahahahahaha wowwwwwwwwww
That one went right over my head. Sorry Pat ahhaha
Charisma 05-26-2007, 09:06 PM Honestly, if the price is right I'd like to purchase it with the coilovers and cage installed... I'm looking for an E30, always loved them!
whitney 05-27-2007, 01:22 AM Hey Anthony!
Out of curiosity and since a friend asked me "what ever happened to your old E30?" I searched on your user name and found this thread.
I'm a little sad to hear about the accident (2 years already? damn!) but your new one looks fantastic, and I'm glad to hear that my old car got crunched doing something it loved -- autocrossing :) I'd like to hear details about the mishap.
If I were you, I would try to tap into the Spec E30 crowd to look into selling the car. Depending on how bad the frame damage is, it might make a great cheap E30 chassis. The rollbar (Autopower 4-point boltin) can be pretty easily added to to make it a full NASA/SCCA legal 6+ point cage.
Anthony or anyone else, if you guys want any details I'd be happy to share what I remember. I spent a shitload of time and money on that car. I'm about to build up my stock M3 the same way I did the E30 too, it worked so well.
BUNTA 05-27-2007, 08:51 PM Ill take it you found your new E30 in PA(Inspection Stickers). There are tons of nice ones up there. Geberally good prices too, but you pay for a good one. I bought an all original paint and panel 325i there for 3800(A steal I thought)
Its no where near as nice as your IS though.

Nope, the e36 was sold so i could embark on this stupid and costly e30 obsession. And yeah, when i stopped by your parlor you gave me a hoodie.
I remember seeing this E30.......:confused
Why confused?
