have you tried a fuse or checking to see if you got a bad connection w/ you switch?

its totally dark out now... are both the front windows on the same fuse? i don't think it's the switch- all three switches that might help me out aren't doing anything. the rear windows are working fine!

I will go check real quick about if they are on the same fuse.

yup! i just went out and checked #14 and, lo and behold, she's blown! i switch it out, start the car, hit the windows up button, and... nothing! check the fuse, and it's blown again! i switched it out again (for a 75A, instead of the 30A that blew), and THAT one blew! luckily, it occured to me that i can just open my doors and put the top up... but i'm still stuck with a short on the fuse #14 circuit. the Bentley manual says "central body electronics (ZKE IV), and front power windows". does anybody know what my likely culprits are for tomorrow when i start trying to trace out this short?

Have you tried another 30A fuse? Make sure your car is off and your doors are close. it might try to lower you windows when you have your doors open and that might blow the fuse.

hmm... yah- i tried a 30A before i tried the 75A. doors were closed, keys were out, and all that. i'd get in and hit the switch to put em down, and... nothing. i'm afraid i have to start looking for a short... think the switch is the best place to start looking?

It might be the best place to start. check about any bare wires or loose ones. that could cause it.
