I am very interested in your ///M, I am in Limerock right now and service is not that great, email works when it wants to. I am returning home on Sunday, the 27th. If you could send me a phone number so that we could talk when I do get home I would appreciate it. Again, I am very interested in your car and hope that maybe we could work something out.

The car is originally from Ohio. Absolutely no snow or ice ever. Car is garaged every night (my garage is in the background of the picture). The bumper was once refinished and a door ding was fixed; No other "accidents" to speak of.

I just took another bunch of pictures that I'd be happy to send. Just send me an email: huras@comcast.net

Nope, it's a 96. The changeover was in '97.

Awesome car. I had a chance to see the car in person yesterday afternoon and needless to say, the car is mint. Owner is a very knowledgeable guy - a real enthusiast - and we had a chance to talk BMWs. It's always great to talk cars with a real bimmer guy!
Best of luck with the sale (if you REALLY want to sell it) - beautiful car

Good luck with the sale.

I went from a Dinan S2 540/6 to a Z06. I miss the BMW refinement, but I don't miss the nickle and dime repair bills from the E39.

If you have not driven a C5 Z06, go drive one and tell me if you can wipe the grin off your face :)

It's funny you mention the Z06, because I'm actually leaning away from one now. They're fantastic cars, awesome value for the dollar no question. My only real complaint is that they're rough around the edges, both literally (build quality) and in terms of handling. My other problem is that for the coin I'm spending on a good C5 Z06, I'd really want a new car. I recently drove a C6 at GM proving grounds here in Mich. Do yourself a favor and drive z51 Z06. They're almost as fast as an older Z06, but feel more manageable. I'm thinking more along the lines of an E30 M3 now... :buttrock

The build quality on my Z06 is just as good, if not better, than my E39. At least, I don't have to worry about interior door handles breaking off in my hand or cooling systems taking a dump at 60k miles in the Z06!

My insurance is about 60% of what I was paying for the BMW.

Could the interior be a little less spartan or the seats be a bit more comfortable, sure.

I don't see how the handling is crude? Add a nice coilover setup, a set of swaybars, sticky rubber, and not too many cars will stay with the C5 (especially in the same price range).

I am sure the new C6 is a very capable car, but the looks are not for me.

If you like the rawness of E30 M3, I am suprised that the C5 Z06 was not more to your liking compared to the C6? Otherwise, I would think you would choose the E46 M3 which has more creature comforts?

I agree with you 100% on the issue of looks. The C5 is much nicer- more sensual and curvaceous.

I'm shocked that you say that the build quality is better in your 'vette. In my experience, all corvette, even new ones, have mediocre build quality. The lack of quality is especially appearant in the interior- some of the plastics are really nasty. The exterior isn't much better either. Then again, I've never seen a fiberglass car with truly exceptional exterior panels... I'm even more astonished by the insurance; Insurance for a Z06 is *much* more expensive then my M3. My M3 ain't exactly a new car though.

I like the rawness of the Z06. What I don't like is the vague steering feel and the ease with which it snaps into oversteer. Overall, the E30 is a more precis instrument; Not to mention a "modern" classic car. No E46 for me; way too heavy.

The drive to NY is actually not that bad (~10 hrs). I've driven the road many times (close friends live in NYC). If you came early in the morning, say 10am, we could seal the deal and you could be home in time for Leno. :)
