Hey all. My top motor just make funny sound now. So i dcided to leave the motors dropped and store it my self it takes about 40 seconds to do. How ever is there any way to where i can open my truck with out fooling with the motors or the passenger side lid (pushing down).

how are you getting the Tonneau to latch? If i drop my motors, the tonneau is unlatched, thereby creating an unintended drag chute at speed.

Exactly.

The emergency procedure (pulling away the motors from the gears) is to CLOSE the top.

You're not supposed to open the top in that state as Kerrhill point out...you need the motor to lock lid.

Just a thought that popped into my mind this instant...what about only reengaging the motor that locks/unlocks the lid. You can pull the roof up and put it down manually and use the button to close the lid and have it locked.
Taken no microswitch prevents this.

it would cost a serious amount of money to convert a powered top to a manually operated top.

as others have mentioned, you would need to buy the mechanical latch and release for the storage compartment lid, as well as the actual release handle and interior panel.

im sure there are actual things within the top itself that should be changed out to allow the top to fold more freely by hand as well.

Well when the top is folded in properly i get no pop effect at all. Well that is put on the back burner until i get a new engine.

be careful don't drive with your top down after pulling the red handle, the lid cover is not locked and will flip open at high speeds, why? because it happened to me, at about 70MPH it jumped up and slammed into my trunk causing a big scratch.

However I have the solution and will be posting pictures soon. you have to make a lock in the trunk, theres two wires you need to hold down (kind of like the wires on a bicycle's brakes)
