These are from Buttonwillow last weekend with the SD BMW CCA. They are both also from the Sunday afternoon sessions in A group. The vids are from my e36 with my driving.

The reason I pulled off in the 2nd session was because my radiator cap was deciding that it was done. :rolleyes No real problem, just some temporary coolant loss. Bled the system and drove home without a problem.

And Travis was kind enough to put these on Youtube too. ;) They had to be splite up since they were a little too long.

Oh, and chances are, if you spot me making a mistake, I've prolly already been given a hard time for it a few times. ;)

I wasn't quite sure where to post these, but I figured maybe someone in here would wanna see them. :dunno

Jay-

I had been hoping to start my racing carreer (at a young 55!) at the 6/9-10 event, but I haven't yet heard from the club on my license and, more importantly, I'm getting my right knee "scoped" this week and my surgeon says no track stuff until mid-June... So. I'll do the NCRC weekend on 6/23-4.

By the way, I haven't been at BW before, so these videos are great help in learning the track... seems you're busy all the time!!

Hey Chuck-

This will be my 1st time at BW too. It's a long haul for me. I won't make the NCRC deal 6/23-6/24. Can't do it twice in one month.

I believe my next club race will be TH in Oct. You should be good to go by then, yes? I'll be doing several DEs between now and then though.

It's always nice to see video of a track in a similar car before going.. Thinkin of running BW again 6-2/6-3 with Speedventures? I just signed up for it.. dunno if anyone else from the forums will be there.

What tires did you have on btw?

Full-tread RA1's with 2 autoxes on them. You can hear them talk if you listen carefully, especially thru the esses. :stickoutt

Maybe its because I haven't been there in 3-4 years, but what configuration were you running? Clockwise with some infield stuff substituted for the back straight?

Yeah, believe its called configuration 1. It includes the bus stop (that infield stuff you mentioned) and star mazda.

That's the "classic" configuration for BW. The race next month will be the same but CCW I was told... without the Bus Stop, its the same config as most of the time attacks.

So, you'd tell a noob like me to study his vids carefully, right? ;)

The Time Attacks are config #13: CW, with the Bus Stop and Sweeper.

I'm planning to be at the next event, I'll be running in TTC, not Club Racing yet. Maybe I can convince whoever necessary to let me run with you guys during Practice. I don't have my full cage yet, but other than that it's a JP car.

It's a completely different track counter-clockwise. The video wont do you much good. :(

It's a completely different track counter-clockwise. The video wont do you much good. :(Which is one of the reasons BW is so terrific, all you have to do is run the other way and it's like going to a different track. The PCA has a turn-by-turn descrption of the track, which might help you a bit, you'll have to search though, I don't have a link. It's a very technical track, with many linked turns that are a real challenge to get wired.

Without the bus stop, you will get some incredible speeds approaching Grapevine, since in a race car you'll be doing well over 100 coming out of Riverside. It's not as fast as Willow Springs, but I'd guess without the bus stop it gets close.

I was hitting about 105 on the front straight, the back straight (just past Lost Hill) and the portion after riverside coming up to Lost Hill. I think my wing slows me down. :stickoutt

Btw, you gonna be at the autox this weekend?

It's ok, I guess. Personally, I think the silver M3 at about 2:30 looks hot.

You were looking at your speedo instead of the track? :nono ;)

If you run CCW, and take out the bus stop, exit speed out of Riverside puts a race car over 100 and with that long straight section it must be approaching 140-150 by the time it reaches Grapevine, I'd guess. Maybe one of you racers can enlighten us?

Of course, I heard an instructor saying that he knows a guy that does Riverside at 135. :eyecrazy Ground effects car, but that's still cooking.

Btw, you gonna be at the autox this weekend?I'm afraid I'm going to miss it. Something about family, kid's birthday, or something like that. :rolleyes

Yeah, I really don't have a problem being passed by instructors in their race cars. :rofl

No, I wasn't looking down. I know my gearing enough to know about how fast I'm going, plus the sound is a dead giveaway. I know, I'm lame. I've been driving the same car far too long when I know what the engine sounds like at certain rpm's.

Edit: Actually I lied. I would glance down on the straights to check gauges. I think you're supposed to do that. ;)
