my car was running. it wasn't running perfectly, and it's idle was a lil high after warmed up, but it was running.

before when it wasn't running, i didn't realize it was supposed to have a clamp on the air boot. until i found 2 in my trunk, and noticed they went there. put them on tightened em up. car started and ran as described above.

now it won't start. i'm getting spark and getting fuel to the fd, the fd just isn't sending it to the injectors, unless i take the boot off, and pull up the air sensor plate a lil bit, stick a piece of paper in it just to hold it up some, put the boot back on, tighten it up. boom it runs. it ran like crap, but it did start.

so i'm thinking it's a vacuum leak.

what do you guys think?

any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Josh

also, don't know if this has to do with it, but when i put the key on "on" sometimes i can hear the fuel pump priming or what ever it does, but sometimes i don't hear it...

EDIT: every fuel hose on the fd has new crush washers, and there are no more leaks.

thanks for the suggestions guys :shifty

anyway, got this beast running... .kind of.

took the fd off, and took apart the AFM (or w/e it's called) cleaned it up, and re-adjusted the sensor plate's level. put it back together (with a new gasket), and she started right up. then died 5 secs later.

i guess running for 5 secs. is better than not running at all. it got too dark out so i had to call it a night.

ill be back on it tomorrow after work.

Didn't someone suggest to you previously to richen up the mixture? 5 seconds and then dying tells me you're running off the cold start valve and when that shuts off the engine dies. Your idle mixture needs to be adjusted.

thats what someone said before, but then it was running fine, so i didn't mess with that. then it stopped running. like i said imma work on it again tomorrow after work. i should be able to get it going.

that'll be the first thing i check.

thanks

runs now, but after it warms up, the idle is pretty choppy. thats the only way i can think to describe it. imma look in my book and see what it says
