Well, I went to replace the batteries and the back side of the board was toast....so, got a replacement. I was looking it over and it has a extra black wire that the one that came out did not have. The board is supposed to be for a pre-6-86 should be for my car (6/85). The instructions for the install indicate "to remove the ribbon cables and the black wire. If your car is a euro, it will not have this wire." My car is not a Euro (as far as I know) but it did have a place to plug the wire on. Now I wonder what's up with my car. Attached pic is of the two SI boards next to each other after I removed the old batteries from the original board. Should I connect the wire or not? I don't want to pull the cluster back out or turn something to toast. Anyone?
