Havent posted a kill / death story in a while.

Well i just got my car back. Installed some stuff on it and raced some friends of mine.

Found out the guys that put on my exhaust didnt plug up my vaccum line connected to the stock exhaust when I had that installed. So i was running a vaccum leak...

But i got all that taken care of and running a new exhaust. And some other crap.

I took the videos with the zm4 coupe on my camera phone and came out crappier than i expected. Ill get better ones this weekend or something.

Oh i forgot to mention my friend with the gto makes about 90-100 more rwhp than me lol. 6.0l ftw

The GTO is very impressive - lovely exhaust howl. Not to say your car isn't impressive either "Walked U."

Ya my friend gto is retarded loud. Esp after the cam was put in. Idles like an 18 wheeler lol.

Well I noticed that my PSI stabilzied itself a lot better. No more fluctuation under WOT. Also I got a good hp gain from the new exhaust, the leak pluged up, and the other stuff installed.

Ya theres really no hiding that car. He doesnt drive it everyday anyways thats why he rather take hp / tq gain over drivibility.

Same with me thats why i got straight pipes instead of a regular resonated exhaust. It drones pretty bad from 2-2.3k but i deal with it. Im still thinking of deleting the primary cats or getting high flow.

Ill try to get more videos up this weekend. Im still waiting for vishnu to come out with their stage 1 software for the car, which will tune the exhaust. Still need to tune the other stuff on the car too.

Ya for sure. Probably next week or so i will have time to come to do some runs.

shirwin, just get test pipe instead of high flow cats when you replace the primary cat, knowing you if you get hfc u'd go test pipe in like 2 days knowing there's more gain with the test pipe :D

keep at it...i know sometimes it seems like you're toasting your brake pads, especially when the dude you're trying to race takes his sweet ass time lining up with you. but when you get it right, there's nothing quite like it. its almost like taking someone off the line because you have all that boost/power built up for your "launch" minus the traction problems of a standing start.

people talk all day long about how their high compression, high revving motors make most turbo motors' throttle response seem eternally slow...i've learned you can shut those guys up by brake boosting. :D

how did u DESTROY a 350z with 340rwhp? those things weigh around 3150-3200lbs?

your car weighs 3550-3600lbs and has the procede correctly which makes about 330rwhp?

Are you make more than 330rwhp, or did i just make that number thinking thats what was stated about your car in a previous thread? also, id expect closer races and instead you completely hand them their .... well u get the idea. thats probably why i am confused.

Nah i have more than just procede now. I have about 100 more wtq than him. We started from a 1st gear roll where tq still come into effect more than it does at a 60-80 mph.

I was trying to get him to race me from a higher mph so it would be more even but he had to head out.

Ya i know. We tried talking him into selling it but he likes the drivability on the s/c compared to the turbo.


I have a friend that use to have a s/c g35 ended up making only 70 rwhp more. He sold it then bought a single turbo conversion. But it blew a few months ago. And I dont think he has fixed it since then.

Even whe i raced leo's buddy with the 1jz supra he would brake boost and take the jump on me real good.

He says he hit 340 rwhp on a dynapack. Which as we all know read a bit high.

I also ran a 440rwhp GTO, when cammed those things are so loud. I ended up about 1-1 1/2 cars back at 10.5 psi at about 140. I'm turning the boost up and going back for more next week, I'll try to get that on video. :evil2

Your buddy in the GTO needs some driving lessons on how to shift. His shifts take forever (especially the first one, it's like 2 second shift). You got the jump on him in the first vid, too.

+1 on the GTO's shifting.

1st one hes in 4th gear @ 80. Lol like I said he runs 3.91 gears. So if he down shifts at 80 in 3rd hes at liek 5000 + rpms. If he does it in 4th hes at 3000 rpms. 80 is a real bad spot for him. His car is geared more toward either a low gear roll or a dead stop 1/4 mile.

Thats why in a 60 in 3rd its a lot better race.

i'm not always making max boost when i brake boost, but for the most part i am...i guess it really depends on the mood. i'm not perfect at it either...and i also occasionally mess it up so bad that it seems like it didn't work at all. the trick is mashing the throttle just before you let off the brake, and not vice versa - mess that part up and its real easy to lose alot of the boost you thought you had just built up. a big part of what gives you the "slingshot" feeling when launching while brake boosting depends on having already applied a judicious amount of throttle just prior to letting off the brake.

honestly its like learning to drive stick...its just a skill that takes a bit longer to learn and perfect b/c we spend a relatively small amount of time practicing brake boosting in comparison to the amount of time we spend simply driving, or "practicing" driving our manual transmissions.
