I got the razr.. fit the bmw docking unit... my blackberry wouldn't... so now I have two cell phones... I leave the razr in the car except to update the phone number directory from laptop to match the blackberry.

Also have the Razr V3. Works very well with the bluetooth in the car.
Previous Motorolla phone also worked well, but it was too old to stay charged.

Hey Mikey... how do you like the phone cradle? What'd it cost? Does it help with reception?

Razr V3, simple, gets the job done.

Personally I hate razrs. I got a great Nokia I've had it a while now and it's survived being thrown TRHOUGH the wall twice. Went through the drywall no problem. Try THAT with a razr lol.

wife is on second slvr... don't really care for the motorola UI. Anyway, the Nokia 6235i works fine wit the whole system, 1.3mp camera too.

I have a generic model samsung; pretty much the definition of a standard phone. It works flawlessly with the bluetooth in my car but I'm not entirely pleased with the battery life while bluetooth is enabled. I just have to remember to actually plug it into the wall at night.

Mikey, You say you now have two cell phones.. I assume that you also mean that you have two phone numbers ? If having two cell phones is all that you need to make the blue tooth work I would gladly buy two phones.. But I believe you also need to have a seperate number. I have a Sprint Katana phone and it is the best phone that I have ever had. I am hesitant to get rid of it just to have the blue tooth work as the available phones from Sprint that do work are really crappy phones or bulky Blackberrys.

Just FYI...even though I think the RAZR is the only phone that is supported by BMW on their website, it does this stupid thing, where if you are on a call, any incoming call will knock u off the one ur on. My Treo 650 & 680 paired just fine and the phonebooks are viewable.

Hello "henrysko":

I purchased the Razr because BMW referenced it on their web site. I tried it without the snap-in adapter and then paid the $400 or so to have the adapter installed. It works better with the snap-in adapter but I am not sure it works $400 better. If I did not spend so much time in fringe reception areas, I would not spend the money.

I was going to get a bluetooth adapter but the speaker phone on my Blackberry is awesome. I put the BB on the ledge in front of the guages.

I would consider a bluetooth adapter if my address book would show up on the stereo head unit. Where do I get more information on this option? Is there a website?

My SA said the bluetooth option had conncetion issues with most phones and told me not to get it.

Just a word of caution. I agree with those who have posted that the basic RAZR V3 works well with the BMW bluetooth, however NOT the new RAZR V3xx's. They have a new "stereo bluetooth" protocol that I have not been able to pair with my E92. They also are incompatible with the BMW cradle (too big and the power connector is upside-down versus the standard V3's. :shifty

My address book shows up on the head unit, you spin the dial to a letter and then you can spin it through names and push to call... or are you saying it does not do this with that phone specifically?

I'm not sure why it would have issues pairing with anything, its really nothing more than one of those ear pieces people wear to look silly built into the car.

The voice dialing can be frustrating though. "Dial Name" ... "Please say the name." "Home" ... "I'm sorry, please repeat. Please say the name." "Home" ... "Would you like to dial ... home?" "Yes" ... "Dialing." Not sure why I cant just say "dial home" and have it do it.

BMW has a compatibility list. Moto phones are mostly compatible. Nokias lessly. I hope iphone will be compatible too which will be available in two weeks.
