A friend of mine in his 68 camaro just toyed with the 335i coupe yesterday. he has a 427 i forget which make with about 400 to the wheels, but just toyed with the 335 which put me to shame because im waiting on one. it made me think, "what do i need to do to beat this guy?" any comments, concerns, help? im hopin the new m3 wont be that much higher to pay for if i could finance one. if i can, believe me i will.

By how much did he beat you? Please elaborate...

And update your profile. Apparently your "future" 335i is a current one.

A vishnu tune should allow you to hold your ground.

:werd:...the best you'll be able to do at this point is maybe hold your ground with a Vishnu tune. you'll have to wait for more modification/tuning options to become available for the 335i before you can expect to beat a 400whp 1968 SS.

Dont worry give the tuning scene a little time and i guarentee 335i's will be putting down 450 whp with complementary mods as well as tunes.

Vishnu software will certainly keep you in the game. Turbo's back exhaust work will likely put you in the lead.

It seems the tuners are making short work of the 335.

all I can tell you is hope he doesnt tune his car more......a big block chevy camaro can and will destroy a 335 if running correctly w/ a decent tune. I would know....check the Avatar. TQ ftw for the camaro. However, at high mph the gearing of the 335 could be a benefit. Most '68/'69 SS's will be running a 3 spd auto or 4 spd manual so they are are not geared for high speed runs, rather the 1/4. I was running a modded 6spd manual in mine and never had a problem at high speeds, honestly I didnt have enough hp to max out the car and I was running low 12's on street tires.

Lastly, I would rather have the camaro over the 335 anyday........I miss mine every single day.

Been a while since I've seen you post around here, I think! When did you get the 335i? Every single time you post a picture of that stupid Camaro I want one more and more but they're impossible to find for a good low price to fix into a monster :( :( :(

He can only get you in a straight line, if he has to brake or turn he's done. And from a roll at 80 you would probably take him at about 120.
If its like my old 68ss it is geared for the 1/4 with 3:60 or 4:11 gears, not much good after 120 mph, but I got there in 11.4
anyhow its apples to oranges
I miss the torque but not the one dimension.

That is a farely easy fix on the old Camaro's....new front suspension and custom rear leafs, poly bushings all around, and adjustable sway bars. Now you have a good canyon carver. Brakes are just the same, tons of good brake kits out there. Mine was set up for track (road course) so it was a ton of fun on the streets!

Nevertheless, 335 > 68SS in stock form, but only from a handling perspective.

yeah haven't been posting much, but I stop by every now and then to see what ridiculous stories there are to read. Its a good way to kill brain cells/time when I need a break from work.

I got the 335 about a month and a half ago from a gentlemen in New Hampshire. Negotiated the deal, flew up from MD and drove it back down. It was the exact color, package, and definitely the price I was looking for. Great car, just time for some more power :redspot.

After some easy mods the tranny finally shifts like it should. The suspension is good for now. The engine is great, powerful, smooth, efficient, but now its time for some tuning.

Vishnu Tune + exhaust will let you dominate. The Vishnu tune alone can put you into the 12's and with exhaust you are approaching mid-12's. Version 2.0 of the ProCede is being tested now so it'll be exciting to see what that brings. I believe my dad and I are running our cars here in a few weeks (his is a Vishnu 335 and mine is a stock 97 M3/4). I'll let you know what times his car puts down.
