Hey guys,

Well I finally was able to find a car configured the way I want it. I have been looking for almost a month, started off looking for an X3, then decided I didn't want to contribute to the overpopulation of SUVs in the world. So we started searching for 328i coupes...let me tell you, they are few and far between, unless you are willing to compromise big-time on packages and/or colours. (Or if you can afford to wait after ordering it to spec, which I can't.)

Thought I had found the perfect 328 coupe, but the dealership that owned the allocation didn't want to give it up. After a couple of weeks of searching for a coupe we realized it wasn't going to happen.

So, I broke down and started looking at sedans, with the caveat that we search for 335's instead of 328's, since I am already compromising on the manual tranny and coupe I preferred. Lo and behold, my salesman found a 335i sedan on the boat. It docks at Charleston next Tuesday (22nd), so it should be in my paws by the first week of June or so.

The details:
- Monaco blue;
- Terracotta leather;
- dark wood;
- Steptronic A/T (my first auto Bimmer...) :(;
- Sport & Premium pkgs;
- rear sunshades;
- Sirius (I have faith they will get it functional outside of the mainland!)
- "Comfort Access" (complete waste of $500, but already on the car...)

MSRP is $47,445; salesman offered $46,600 over the phone...I was like, meh, okay, whatever...we can do better than that...like $45k. :D (probably we will end up around $46k.) I want some floor mats included as well...

I will have pics once it is in our hands. I was a bit leery of the 335 given the issues I have heard with high oil temps and failed high-pressure fuel pumps on the early build (pre-March 07) models. Since this is a lease I am not overly concerned; also as it is a May build the oil temp issue at least should be resolved. We will see if anything develops with our fuel pump.

Quick question...does anyone there put more than 10k miles/year on their vehicles over there? Obviously there is no capability to do a 'long drive' like you would do on the mainland. The car will be my wife's car for driving to work and back, and we would also use it on the weekends occasionally for cruising around. I just don't see us needing to get the 12k lease. Your thoughts?

The Honda CR-V is getting traded in, as is my 540. So my wife will drive the new 335; I have my motorcycle and my 83 320i...currently undergoing a clutchectomy...a victim of trying to teach a Chinese woman (a.k.a. my spouse) how to drive a stick! :complain When we get their in July I will be sure to bring them to the G2G's so you can scope them out.

Only about 45 days to go until I'm in Hawaii! :redspot

When I had 1 car, I would put on @ 12k a year going from Hawaii Kai to Kalihi everyday for work. That is a 35 r/t drive. Now that I'm semi retired, I still put on @ 12k total on all the cars.

As for the price on your car, you couldn't have done better here. The best would be msrp. And the auto would be perfect for the morning gridlock.

Nice color combo. :buttrock

I easily can do 1000 miles a month, just between Palolo and Downtown. Of course, when i drive down the valley to the store, I get on H1, blast down to the King Street exit, pull a u-turn at the Humane Society, punch it down that onramp getting back on H1 to get off at 6th ave and make it to the store. When your car is fun to drive, miles are easy to burn. So is gas here at what, $3.45 for non-Costco 89?:help

I suspect that the 335's TT motor will have you "talking the long/windy/scenic way" too.

Chevron is around $3.51 or so for 92, which is what goes in my car. Needless to say I hardly drive it now cuz the truck takes the 87 crap on base without problems

Is 92 the highest octane available there? We had 93 where I was from in Jersey...KC only has 91...not sure I follow that logic.

Only 92 available here at regular stations. A couple sell 100 octane.

I have never regretted paying $500 for comfort access. It's a great feature.

I hear ya...I've seen a lot of people post in favour of it, and I'm sure we'll find it useful over the course of the lease. But given the choice (e.g, if I had custom-ordered the car) I wouoldn't get it...the less 'stuff' on the car, IMO, the better.

I didn't even want the premium package, but again, unless you custom order, ZPP is on 95% of dealer allocations.

I just like my Bimmers as gadget-free as possible...if I had custom ordered the coupe like I wanted, it would be a 335i with a 6-sp M/T & sport pkg, Sirius, and that's all. Since this is primarily the wife's car (that's what I tell her anyway:devillook), I got a few extras cause I know not everyone shares my opinion! :D
