Hi,

im having problems with the car starting up. it would refuse to start so i fitted a new bosch starter motor and its still not starting. it just makes a whurring noise like the starter is not engaging. the car starts with a tow and runs fine, but when i stopped the car it started twice and then refused to start again.

tested battery and its fine too.

anyone have an idea?

thanks

Check chassis ground from the battery, it could be loose or corroded. If it's going south it can give a good enough connection to run the accessories but not enough to run the starter well, which is the highest drain electrical device in the car.

A jump should allow the car to start if it's a bad ground, provided you're using good cables and hooking in to the right spots-- the big ground bolt under the hood, and the remote positive terminal.

If the jump still doesn't do it, it's always possible you got a bad replacement starter, however unlikely. Take it off and juice it directly, make sure it works properly.
