Is there a trick in taking off the trim over the glove compartment and to the right of the steering wheel? i dont want to pull on it because it may be screwed in somehow, but if it is just clips, than maybe i need to pull harder? anybody know.

Pull harder.
Constant, liberal pressure, applied as evenly as possible.

On mine, that trim just pulls loose. I've got the wood trim (which I guess almost everyone has), and there are two friction-fit pins on the small pieces next to the steering wheel, and four pins on the piece over the glovebox. Just be careful and pull straight out and you should be in good shape.
