Called the dealer two weeks ago and asked to speak to a tech and they had said no such thing as an oil cooler for the 335.
So I called the BMWNA number today and gave them my VIN and they confirmed that indeed my car will have an oil cooler with an April build.
Called the dealership back and quoted the conversation and they said thanks for the info...they didn't know that oil coolers were in new production models.
Does BMW not release any tech bulletins with regards to something so important? It's funny when a customer with no car yet is teaching them something!

Dealers are usually the worst place to get any information.

yup all have one now as of March 07 build...and you can call BMWNA supposedly for a retrofit if you are pre March 07 production according to the other forum...

Oil cooler is for the engine oil.
If you have a steptronic transmission that automatically comes with a transmission oil cooler but only cools the ATF. NOT engine oil.
This whole issue is about the engine oil cooler. Not transmission cooler. BMW automatic transmission have always had a transmission cooler since early 90s.

I have a April build 335 conv with auto and made them make sure it had one before I left the dealership. They confirmed that I did.
The rumor, and I hate rumors, is that the cars equipped with auto and the sports package has them. Does yours have a sports package?

No Sports Package, no oil cooler.
I don't have the Sports Package and I was told that I don't have the oil cooler.
:(
My car should arrive by next week.

You're right, the internet is the best place. :rolleyes
To be honest, I hadn't heard anything about this oil cooler issue until I read it on the forums. These cars are so new, there is no way you can reasonably expect techs to know every single fact about which model and package comes with what option. Our job isn't to memorize options, it's to fix them when they break.
I have yet to hear anything official from BMW about this oil cooler issue, but I'm sure you guys will know about it several days before it's released since, obviously, the BMW's dealership employees aren't nearly as well informed as you internet folk.
