i just got my m5 a couple days ago and have a few chances to run a few cars on the highway. the first night i got it, a guy in a 330ci was slowing next to me and punching it on the hwy. i really didnt think anything of it, or had i really floored the m5 to know what kind of power it had. Anyways, a couple of seconds later after lining up, at 50mph i drop it into 3rd ( i think i could have dropped it to 2nd), but regardless i wasnt expecting to completely destroy him. The car felt very very strong!

earlier today i was stuck behind a guy in a conv. m3 that couldnt stop talking on his cell phone and driving very slow. anyways, when traffic opened up, i got into the other lane and drove off. i think he noticed me and drove pretty quickly to get in front of me. I didnt think that was necessary. anyways, a minute later, as i was following him, there was an opening and i see him getting ready to floor it and pass everyone off. I didn't feel like racing him but i did want to see how i would do. we were at 40mph and i dropped it to second and i noticed he downshifted too. he floored it and so did i. i easily caught up to him even when he was a full throttle and passed him with ease. Not as fast as i did with the 330ci but i pulled on the m3 conv. pretty easy. :) i was happy with the outcome.

as far as mods, i have a supersprint magnum exhaust.

Agreed. My pops has a M5. When I go home I drop my keys, say hello, and get in the 5. I love the power of those things!:buttrock

it was an e46, but it was convertible, that may be why i had such ease at pulling on him. I think those only trap at 102-103, compared to coupe m3's which can trap as high as 106mph.
