I was almost in a head-on collision yesterday with a Bentley Continental. I pulled into a men's store that fronts on a fairly major street (two lanes each direction plus a center turn lane) and noticed a gorgeous black Bentley parked in the space directly in front of the store. When I went in, there was a young, fit looking guy (my assumption was that he was a pro athlete of some sort) wearing kinda loud golf clothing buying a bunch of stuff; he was loudly telling the staff how he was on his way to catch a plane, that he was between two houses at the moment, and that it was just easier to buy a new wardrobe before going to "play Muirfield" tomorrow. The guy bought a couple armloads of stuff, put it in the back seat of the Bentley and drove off.

A minute or two later, I finished my business, headed out to my car and started off. Heading out of the lot, look to the right/west (where I'm headed), and the road is empty. Look left, a stoplight for a pedestrian walkway about 30 yards away is red, so no traffic is coming westbound from that direction, but the eastbound lanes are stacked up numerous cars deep at the light. I turn out of the lot into the near right lane to head west, and suddenly there's a Bentley directly in front of me, driving probably 30 mph, its driver busily chatting on cell phone. I basically had time to cut my wheel to the left, slam on the gas, and blast into the left westbound lane, and Bentley-boy cut to my right and went back into the men's store lot. Apparently he'd forgotten something and didn't feel like sitting in the line of traffic waiting at the light to turn left into the store, so he just decided to cut out of line and drive east in the far-right westbound lane until he got there.

I really didn't want to get out of my car and confront the guy--in large part because I have an incredible amount of stress in my life right now and I didn't really want to run the risk of possibly physically teeing off on someone who obviously has a lot more money than I do--but I was able to catch the next entrance down, double back, roll down my window and yell, "NICE CAR, douchebag! Someone usually drives it FOR you, right?" as he got out of his car.

I was just nearly killed by some dork in his x3...I was travelling along a woodsy section of NY's westchetser county roadways, in the aftermath of an incredibly powerful storm. I realized that despite my reasonable speed, I was being tailgated by some sort of BMW SAV. When this maniac finally got the nerve to try and blow past me, I made him work a little, but I didn't downshift or force him into the woods. I let him go by. However, I began to play peek - a - boo so aggressively in his mirrors that he tried to confront me at a traffic light. He thought better of it instantly when he saw the NRA sticker in my front window, and the smile on my face. I didn't even get out, but I opened the window, and said..."do you know that the speed limt back there is 40 miles an hour? " he yelled about how it's not my business and such, but by then I was giggling as I drove past him, and relaxed my grip.

I called the cops yesterday after a Grand Am cut me off, nearly took my right fender off, and then STOPPED in front of me. I calmly called the police and when I backed up to go around, they sped off. About 2 miles later, here come to police AND PULL ME OVER AND GIVE ME A TICKET FOR "FOLLOWING TOO CLOSE"!!!!!

If I were you I would call your local barracks and speak to the CO of the officer that wrote you the ticket. Calmly explain that you reported an aggressive driver in an attempt to keep the roads safe and in return you received a ticket. Do it very calmly (and without accusing the officer of doing anything "wrong") and you might just have luck.

Brad, Ive had some unnerving experiences with a Bentley driver as well. Same driver on three occasions. I guess he feels as though he owns the road and everytning else that he comes in contact with. The guy is probably 65 but his tanning has his weatherbeaten face looking 90. He parks in places that no one else would think of parking. Oh to be privledged! LOL

The more I think about this whole thing, the luckier (and angrier) I feel. There are a lot of very elderly people driving around the area where this happened--if this had been some 80-year-old pulling out of that lot instead of me, the outcome really wouldn't have been funny.
