Has anyone installed an actual handbrake into an e38? I've wished for one for a very long time... it's just so much more satisfying than pushing the pedal with your foot.

I imagine this would be a fairly complicated proceedure... especially with placement. Alpine3.23 05-17-2007, 03:04 PM Has anyone installed an actual handbrake into an e38? Probably not worth the hassle IMO. crewdog843 05-18-2007, 12:07 PM I never use mine....probably should to make sure it still works. If you had a Triumph, AH Sprite or MG and did a lot of gymkhanas, slaloms, or motocrosses, a taped down handbrake would be quite practical.....but not with an e38. jake sleepy740 05-18-2007, 12:16 PM the 540 has one, but not our car :( greene08 05-18-2007, 12:46 PM It is really bad for your transmission if you do not use the parking brake when you park the car. If you do not, the transmission holds the weight of the car and not the brakes (as it should). Just a useful tip. crewdog843 05-18-2007, 03:39 PM Not very many hilly spots in Las Vegas....at least not on my daily commute. I'm always afraid I'll drive off with the brake set....did it a couple of times in the wife's Sequoia, so I stopped using it. jake |
