View Full Version : 1996 BMW M3 vs. 2005 BMW 645 Ci
freakStocker 05-17-2007, 03:51 AM I own a 1996 BMW M3 and my competitor was driving a 2005 645Ci Coupe. He looked to be in his mid 20's.
Cliff Notes
2 runs, both from a stoplight...
1st run:
No nod needed; we both knew what was going to happen. Green light...
He gets the hole shot and quickly gains 3/4, or so, of a car length on me. I shift to second and gradually into third pull dead even with him.
Red Light...
2nd run:
I causally look left and see him messing with his ASC or iDRIVE ect...
(Fool! I drive w/o Traction Control.;)) Well, light goes green...
I 1/2 throttle her to see if hes ready to go again; then decide to just floor it and get my blood pumping! Uh, he is not in my rear view mirror:help? His bumper is on my b-pillar and Im going into third at 7k rpm again...:devillook
we take it up to the top of his third (which was a little shorter than mine?) and let off.
Good Times.
freakStocker 05-17-2007, 03:59 AM found this... (the car was even silver too!) Its too late and i cant post pics. suxors.

Der Spielführer 05-17-2007, 11:22 AM Wow, he should have destroyed you.
Bruse Wayne 05-17-2007, 11:44 AM Wow, he should have destroyed you.
hahahha thats what I was thinking.
What mods do you have on that E36 M3?
328iJunkie 05-17-2007, 11:51 AM You guys think? its a decently powerful V8 but the cars also a decent fatass...

bench racing should be illegal. ;)

:lol
I believe bench racing is when you "assume" or guess the 1/4 mile. What I posted above is an "example" of what a 6 series can do. With that being said and shown, it is VERY obvious that you're bone stock S52 would get its a$$ handed with equal drivers.
So congrats on beating a horrible driver
freakStocker 05-17-2007, 02:06 PM Assumption:

So congrats on beating a horrible driverWTF? I won the race; with what you say is a slower car...and he was the better driver?
edit:
lol my bad man. I read your last sent. as "congrats on being a horrible driver"... Not nearly implying my insanely vast amounts of driving skillz...
:rofl
"BEATING"...;)THANKS , I think
EaglEye 05-17-2007, 02:15 PM So congrats on beating a horrible driver
That's "being" with a little "a" and "t" action thrown in the middle. Changes the meaning a bit.
As for the race: if he jumped off the line, you shouldn't be coming back after any length of time. The launch is the only place you should be able to hang for a while, so failing that... :help
His gearing should also be longer than yours, so if he had a manual and it seemed his gearing was shorter, he was probably short shifting.
Good runs, regardless.

328iJunkie 05-17-2007, 03:22 PM Yeah thats not a legit timeslip. I could see a 650 powning a M3 but a 45 only has what 350hp? 320 at the wheels maybe in a 3800+lb car... dont think this was that surprising of a kill.
timmtc 05-17-2007, 03:30 PM Nice kill man.
So many people love to be douchebags on the kills forum.
AzzMan 05-17-2007, 03:44 PM All 645s are 6speeds, that's for sure guys! No way it was an automatic.

+1...but 645s are bad ass cars and the 650Ci....well the story might of been a lil diff............
but its not so congrats :D
freakStocker 05-17-2007, 04:31 PM i tried to video...:nono: not safe ever!
i saw on edmunds that there is an automatic? :dunno
EaglEye 05-17-2007, 04:42 PM Yeah, the "only 6-speeds" comment by a previous poster was sarcastic. The vast majority of 6ers are undoubtedly autos.
The mag racer in me says it doesn't matter much since the 645CiA's still trap 102-103+,which is still faster than I hold much hope of even a decently modded---much less stock---E36 running.
Julian 05-17-2007, 05:54 PM A 645 6 speed will become a freight train at higher speeds, not so fast from a dig because of the weight. Once it gets goin the extra power and torque really move that car around. I'm regularly around a 645 6 speed and that thing chirped into 4th at 100mph :buttrock
BavariaMotorist 05-17-2007, 06:33 PM All 645s are 6speeds, that's for sure guys! No way it was an automatic.
^^^
And was it a cabriolet?
CountMontego 05-17-2007, 06:41 PM Agreed, the 645 is not that fast...some have complained that is it underpowered. Guy I work with has a 645 and we have played around a lil bit here and there. My 335i pulls harder than his car by a decent amount and I could see a modifed E36 M3 doing the same. Good kill! :buttrock
PointMEby 05-17-2007, 07:02 PM Yeah auto 645's do 13.7-8 I believe. Manuels a few ticks better. You prob just flat out, out drove him. I believe the verts are significantly slower 14.1-14.2 as they weigh 4200lbs vs the coupes 3700ish. I could see a bone stock 6 speed 650 coupe doing a 13.4 though.. without to much trouble.
freakStocker 05-17-2007, 08:26 PM Good kill! :buttrock ...
thanks ya'llYou prob just flat out, out drove him. Haha...that sounds cool:thanks: say it again.
And was it a cabriolet?Nope. I kinda liked it...:devillook:
I hope everyone realizes the amount of time it takes me to post a smiley...freggin rules!
iforti 05-17-2007, 08:35 PM 645 is a fucking good looking car.
Haifisch M3 05-17-2007, 11:07 PM sounds about right
